in the US? Ohpleaseohplease...

If you're a fan of handhelds, Korean gaming, or just know it by name, you already know of the GP32. Basically it's a handheld that runs off of Flash media cards, meaning total easy of development and a great way for 'indy' developers to create games. After talking to Assistant Manager Kyoung Mo Lee, I found out more than I ever new about this wonderous handheld.

First off is the hardware itself - we're talking sprite resolution and color pallettes that easily beat out the GBA. Then there's the 'games' themselves, which are all flash media which means easy to develop for. That doesn't even touch the potential of the medium though, as there were demos of streaming video, digital books, and mp3 jukeboxes all running off the GP32. Pure coolness.

The only thing left to know is whether or not we'll see GP32s shelved side by side with the GBA in the US. Game Park's official stance? Currently they're looking at all the factors involved in hitting the US market - rightly so, seeing as they would go up against Nintendo itself and their portable monopoly (^_^). This doesn't mean they're not active in making connections though - Game Park is currently talking to prospective US developers and is totally encouraging 'grassroots' development for the hardware.
