Thread: Grocery shopping

  1. - Soda is so shitty for your body, it doesn't do you any good to ingest it. I no longer drink it and I'm much better off for it.

    - After enough exposure to the foreman you learn when to remove your stuff before the drying occurs. I don't know about you, but I've only ever had about a handful of true fuck ups on it, out of the hundreds of times I've used it. But you're right that you need to know how to cook things the traditional way on a stove with pots and pans.

    - As for pots and pans, spend to extra money and get good ones. The cheap ass sets for $20 they sell at target or whatever suck ass, the teflon or whatever that shit is will peel and crack off so fast it will make your head spin.

  2. Go to macys and get some good pans and shit.. Macys usally has some great deals if you look hard enough. I bought a $50 teflon pro pan for 9 bucks, Nothing sticks on this bad boy eggs, nothing... i also got a $50 pot for the same price.. nice stuff


    also i dont know about people but, get GOOD brand washing detgernet for you're cloths.. Trust me when i was on my own my cloths sucked ass with the cheap ass detgernet, i bought the good stuff that my mom used and felt like my washed my cloths.. maybe i'm picky but this stuff bugged the hell out me..

  3. Circulon pans are the most bomb diggity things I've ever cooked on. Yeah, definitely check the Macy's circulars.

  4. I've always been curious about those pans that cook shit on them without having to be heated. Does anyone here have them and do they cook stuff decently or what?

    This is important too: shop by the "per oz" or "per unit" price (its usually in the lower left of the store tag)

    Once I started doing this I noticed I could get a lot more groceries for what I was used to spending.

    P.S. If you buy water look to make sure its not from a "municipal source" because that means tap water. noob.

    Unfortunately grocery stores are notoriously bad at keeping this consistent. Take deli meats, hot dogs, etc for example, often one brand is price per oz, the other is price per lb. I wish they'd all adopt metric and use the same units across the board, as the price per is really helpful.

    It's not exactly rocket science to use consistent units in the first place.

    And let's not even begin with the retardness that is the imperial measuring system. Number of ounces to a gallon? Number of pints to a quart? I have no fucking clue, and shouldn't have to because 99% of the world realized how stupid this was and fixed it. When you've strolled through the entire grocery store and have hit upon lbs, ozs, liquid ozs, pints, quarts and gallons, it becomes a bit much to maintain a mental idea of what product really is the cheapest.

    Tap water has to go through stricter testing than bottled water, so its cleaner too.

    Foreman grills kinda suck. After BBQing on a real grill a lot this summer I can't eat a burger cooked on a Foreman. The taste is inferior.

    Foreman's take some getting used to. They easily dry the hell out of anything you put on it. It's all in the timing and procedure. That said, it willl never be as good as a real grill.
