Laputa: Castle in the Sky is the only Miyazaki film I've ever been able to sit comfortably through in one viewing, so I recommend that. I like a lot of his other movies and all, but oh my god they seem to drag on forever.

I'll second the noms for the Lupin flicks Castle of Cogliostro and Dead or Alive.

Holy shit they do. I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice it. Miyazaki films are work to watch.
