Thread: I need a scanner

  1. I need a scanner

Yup I'm in the market for something that can get all the details for pics and photos, can anyone recommend one?

oh, what type was click-stick using for his arcadia scans?

  2. I've always had excellent experiences with Canon scanners. They're generally pretty cheap for comparable specs and they can take a beating. Don't know if the latter matters to you, but I took mine to and from school, it held up being tossed around, having crap thrown on top of it, ect. without any problems. I had a low-end $50 one, but it scanned images fine unless you're going for crazy quality.

    Just buy a printer/scanner/fax

    They're fairly cheap and reliable.

I use the Lexmark X1185 for all my printer/fax/copy and scanner needs. It's a pretty good deal at $80. I've posted scans from issues of Gamefan, on these boards, using this product.

Unless your either in printing professionally or are just really anal (like me) it probably won't make a whole hell of a lot of difference between scanners, even the cheap ass ones do a really good job.

Hell, at the printing center where I work we were having issues with getting a copier we had to scan over the network. This copier is so expensive you can't buy it, you have to lease it for a few thousand a month. So, we go grab a $50 HP scanner from the sales floor and hook it up. It worked just as good if not better than the expensive machine. The only flaw? When you scanned at maximum resolution it seemed to have some weird haziness, but upon an extreme zoom in Photoshop it's because it actually scanned the texture of the paper.

If you ARE anal, many people love Epson's scanners. I've heard nothing but good things about Canon's too. I've had a couple of Umax scanners that kicked ass in coloring, but I'm not sure if they are even still around, I haven't seen any of their scanners in stores in a while.

  8. I have an Agfa usb scanner that I have had for like 7-8 years, one of the first USB scanners out.
