Some kind of tunnel should definitely be made. Think they'll go back and re-release some games to use the service?

    AAAAAGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!

    WHY WHY WHY.

    Gahhhhhh!

OK, now that I have that out of the way this is all still good news and cool you can add seperate tags. I cannot wait to start a hostile AC village with my friends and send off some worldwide homing shells.

(and I'll bet they're just saving online battle so they can push the next Mario Kart DS, I can live with it as long as wifi stays free)

Hell no. Sequels, maybe. Doesn't gamespy have a tunnelling service for DS? Somebody must have something going somewhere. It wouldn't be extremely difficult, and 4 player Meteos, 8 player Puyo Pop or even 6 player Ridge Racer (yeah, you heard) would be pretty cool.

GameSpy had one for Xbox, so maybe they have one for DS... or SOMEONE.

  5. Someone on shmups months ago posted a link to a european (?) site that was supposed to be working on a dedicated tunneling program for the DS. Wish I woulda bookmarked it.

  6. No balloon battle online = *shrugs*

Give me the current Bomberman DS online. Christ on toast that may be the best version since Super Bomberman 2, if not better. And magically give me a way to play eight player Puyo online.

  7. I like Battlemode in Mario Kart, but I've always been more of a fan of the racing...
I'll believe that Battle Mode is not online when I see it released and I can't select it while being logged on.
Nintendo Wi-Fi does sound sweet. Will your friend list also show which game you are currently playing on the DS? That would be sweet.

  8. So, will this just work for a game to game basis? You won't be able to just pictochat like this will you? Basically, will this have a firmware-ish upgrade to your DS? Anyways, cool stuff. I am kind of wishing that there is a tunneling item done for this, but it does not seem likely. Jump Superstars 1 cart multiplayer is more like multiplayer demo than a real game.

I believe this is just like Xbox Live or PS2's online games where the game needs to be made with an Online mode in mind in order to play games over the internet.

I would love to see a tunneling system come to light as well, but I'm not holding my breath.

As mentioned, it's like all other online games where it has to be programmed to go online. Think of it like Halo vs. Halo 2. Halo had system link, but Halo 2 has Xbox Live.
