Thread: Ultimate Spiderman

  1. Ultimate Spiderman

Just saw the video of this on the OXM disc. I think it looks (wait for it).....amazing.

Best looking cell shading I've seen yet.

For real. I can't wait to play a demo of this.

This does indeed look interesting. I can't believe it took someone this long to figure out that games based on comics should look somewhat like comics.

  4. Playing as Venom: fuck yes.

Dolemite, the Bad-Ass King of all Pimps and Hustlers
Gymkata: I mean look at da lil playah woblin his way into our hearts in the sig awwwwwww

  5. This game takes the whole open-city approach that Spiderman 2 did, right? I hope the combat is better, but it looks too nice to pass up even if it isn't.

On a kinda related note, the upcoming Hulk game is apparently good. Yet another open-city sort of approach, but there are tons and tons of actions the player can do.

At E3, in the Hulk demo there, I grabbed a giant inflated balloon animal (as some advertisement for some fake company in the game), and I floated around in the city with it, slowly gliding down to the ground. You can go into a destruction run where you just plow forward, destroying anything you touch. You can attack highrise buildings until they collapse, piling into rubble. It's just a blast to play. And it doesn't require a large investment of time to get the fun out of it. Great fun.

    Not always. Remember Maximum Carnage?

no matter how many "gimmicks" they add to a hulk game it will always be run, get shot, smash, throw....repeat. you cant block or dodge so you scour the level looking for health. i dont see this one being any different.

Goddamnit, fuck that game. Fuck that game hard.

As for Ultimate Spider-Man I'm looking forward to it as well. Looks like it will be better than Spider-Man 2 and I had a blast with that game despite it's faults. Though the fact that I own Spider-Man 2 will make me hesitate to pick this one up. Damnation.

  9. The open-endedness in Spider-Man 2 was fun for a weekend, but overall was just boring. How many times can beating robots/thugs,swinging some idiot to the hospital, catching ballons(WTF?) and delivering pizzas be fun.

  10. Heh, you know what's awesome? Ultimate Venom has to eat people to survive, else the suit will consume its host. In the tutorial section explaining this, the first victim... is the balloon kid from the Spidey 2 game.
