So what you're saying is that if you truly think something's horrible, you should just tell people it's good because that's what they want to hear?
Ok, I received my copy about four hours ago and I've been playing it nonstop. I've managed to make it to the fifth stage on original mode and the reviews don't lie, this game is hard...and by hard I mean hard as fuck hard but I enjoyed every second of it. This game is definintly not for the casual gamer. The average gamer is gonna return it, go see the doctor, have they're ass stitched up and then run to Gamefaqs and post how sucky the game is. In my opinion this is the best game on the PSP and maybe portable game of the year but I'll hold off on saying that till I beat it.
Conclusion: EGM still sucks, and Parish is a fucking cry baby. If you like GnG...buy the game.

Thank God for Play. So glad I subscribe. I'd go with Edge, too, if it weren't an arm and a leg.Originally Posted by New Age of Aces
I'll buy a PSP largely for this game.
No gnus is good gnus.
I agree with EGM on this game. It sucks. Well, it doesn't outright suck, but I don't like it. I enjoy games that are hard AND fun. This game is hard and not fun. YMMV, IMO, and all that, but this game is not for me.Originally Posted by New Age of Aces
I'm saying that if your a fan of GnG and you are a little hesitant on picking it up because of the somewhat negative Egm review (most people will know better)...don't be. We all know the series is known for it's outrageous difficulty and just because some guy can't make it through the game he has to hate on it like it was some budget title? I disagree with about everything he has to say in his blog and I'm sure alot of other people will as well, but it's his opinion. This is a game that for the most part alot of people are gonna hate, and it's going to mainly be people that are not familiar with the series or are use to the easy shit that has been coming out for the last few generations.Originally Posted by Finch

You say it with such hatred.

Sorry Finch...I don't mean to
There was nothing mystical about an outrageously difficult game back in the NES days, although that's certainly what it's remembered for now. You didn't have to look too hard to find something that rivaled it for challenge. What made it stand out was the extremely polished level design and dead-on controls that made the difficultly reasonable.Originally Posted by New Age of Aces
There's more to GnG than just "hard = good, harder = better" yet that's the only thing anybody ever seems to say about it.
ECM's impressions of UG&G I found on another forum, & yes it's not an impostor.

"It's a good game and, once you get the patterns down, you can manhandle the levels (yes, even the annoying ghosts on stage 1-1) but this game will sell exactly zero copies. Why? It is way, WAY too hard for the current generation of gamers. Worried about not getting another for 10 years? How about worried about not getting another one...ever?
And, honestly, I don't think EGM would have much impact on the sales of this type of game. Last I looked (it's been a while, so correct me if I'm mistaken) but they tend to cater to th GTA/MGS/flavor of the month crowd these days, right? Most of the people reading EGM either a. werent going to buy this anyway or b. would be ground up and spit out after becoming PSP-chucking frustrated before even getting to the end of 1-1."---
