    IBTMK.

I like Toastyfrog/Parish; he's one of the few people who write about videogames that I can actually read. It seems like I'd disagree with him about UGnG but who cares, it's just his lawl opinion. And at least he actually has a real opinion--most games seem to get very similar scores across the board with most videogame publications and that's just wrong. I will stop my rant at saying your mom that there are no games that can be objectively rated so stop trying. Except of course for Warcraft 3, which is indisputably the best game ever Mortal Kombat.

  2. Yeah, the guy seems to have a bad habit of working himself into a self-righteous furor.

Last time it was "Man, FF 12 is SOOO AWESOME. Too bad it'll probably be the last of it's kind, what with the next game coming from the FFVII dude. God that sucks. Stupid popular FFVII, ruining things, and screw all those cows for liking it. I think I'll write about it. And it will be plainly obvious from the many and small things I bitch about I've gone evangalistic."

This time it's "God, don't those cows realize these old-school play mechanics are just lazy substitutes for real challenge. Not being able to control yourself once you've jumped! No diagonal firing! It's artificial! Those "fans" are just full of themselves, thinking they're hardcore. Too bad they're not as balanced as I am. After all, aren't I bashing a hardcore game when last time I bashed something mainstream? It's proof enough! Righteous fury mode! Those graphics SUXX.

What game will suffer Parish's next bout of righteous egotism? Stay tuned, folks!

So, yes, hurray for Parish for having a personality and shooting from the hip instead of just putting down the number he expects the masses to agree upon. Too bad every few months he becomes the anti-Halverson.

    This is a wise man.

This is a very, very wise man.

    Haha. Nice.

And I didn't know they left the ridiculous can't-move-after-jumping mechanic in. That is cheap.

  5. No, I meant the inability to jump left then turn and start travelling right in mid-air. Once you jump, you're commited to that heading unless you double jump to change it, although you can turn and fire in the opposite direction.

Right, that's just the way it is in the SNES one, yes? That's a big contributor to how difficult the game is.

It's in every other GnG game ever made.

  8. I assumed, but didn't know for sure since I only played the first two very briefly on a retro comp. Regardless, it's a design flaw in my opinion, and should have been left out of the new version. But then maybe everybody would bitch that it doesn't feel like the previous games. And I'm not a huge fan of the series anyway, so maybe they'd be right. I just know I don't like it.

  9. Nah, its core to the gameplay and level design. We're not talking about random battles or some other similarly outdated and irrelevant design feature that needs to go. Capcom did get rid of a few of those, though, like starting at the beginning of the level when you die.

OH MY GOD, HE HAS SOME KIND OF GRUDGE AGAINST WHATEVER ONE MAN IS BEHIND UG&G! MAYBE A JEWISH MAN CREATED THE GAME AND PARISH HATES JEWS!

If people buy and like the game it would prove that he is a piece of shit who doesnt know what he is talking about and is trying to just get attention....or just that he has bad taste, I dont know.

I dont really give a fuck what EGM or their sister mags say about something, but like diff mentioned, a hell of a lot of people out there (really dumb cattle-like people) do take these "professional" opinions seriously, and might not give a certain game a fair shake because of it.
