Thread: New, Original XB360 Wrestling game "Wrestle Kingdom"

  1. Xbox 360 II New, Original XB360 Wrestling game "Wrestle Kingdom"

"Self-shadowing effects contribute a lot to making a pro wrestling game," Katsumata said. "When it comes to pro wrestling games, trying to render the wrestlers' muscles is really the key point. But up until now, we couldn't even use a virtual self-shadowing effect due to hardware limitations."

Well, this is the first time I've heard about this. No screenshots yet either, but it sounds interesting. I wonder why Yukes isn't working on the next gen Smackdown though.

In a slightly related bit of news, AKI (developers of the classic N64 wrestling games) is NOT working on the next-gen Def Jam. The creators of the Fight Night series are taking over the Def Jam franchise. Does this mean AKI could be working on a TNA game? Or better yet, a next-gen fishing game? Only time will tell...

    You're kidding, right?
    Time for a change

  3. IGN has a video of this game, and it looks amazing. They did some amazing things with Toukon Retsuden years ago, and this looks to continue that tradition.

I heard about this at E3, and I've had a video, albeit a short one, on my computer since then. I'm sure Yukes is still making the next-gen Smackdown, it's just that it's PS3, so they have plenty of time to slap something together like they did with Just Bring It. Plus, there are multiple teams, just like how Yukes does Day of Reckoning AND the Smackdown series.

  5. ..

As long as it has a great Create-A-Wrestler I'm interested.

But I mean it's not your standard WWE fare so the developers should be able to go all out and create all sorts of whacked out characters.

  6. Given that you can make the alien from Alien in the DoR games, that shouldn't be a problem.

  7. Ok, I watched the 6 second video at IGN, and it looks promising. I guess it's got the NJPW license, but it looked like Mutoh was in there too, and he's an All Japan guy. Maybe it's got multiple licenses? I'd want at least the big 3 (AJPW, NJPW, Noah) and if we're getting greedy, throw in Zero-One.

I thought KOCII sucked by the way. It was WAY too stiff.

  8. It's STILL Yukes.
    And they STILL suck.

  9. Korly, that's one thing I don't like about the vids I've seen of KoC II. All Star Pro Wrestling II seems much smoother. jonas, Yukes can be pretty good, but their U.S. efforts fall short since they're handcuffed by a ton of shit, like time being far too limited, and the limits of the WWE license. That, and they're on auto-pilot with the U.S. games.
