Thread: Transformers

  1. I saw both of those last night and said fuck you.

  2. Why is Blaster a crystalline jet/flower arrangement?

  4. I have no idea. I picked them up and put them down just as fast. Really odd choices.

I don't blame you. I got that Blaster mold as Cybertron Soundwave, and it works for him. I don't need it again. Screw Quickmix too.

I'll just wait for Silverbolt, Blades, and Springer.

  7. Looks like they showed lots of cool stuf at SDCC, though much of it was apparently shown previously at the no-cameras-allowed Botcon presentation. First off, in the Animated Activators line, Cliffjumper with a new head sculp:

Hopefully he gets the deluxe treatment... I got Activators 'Bee just for the sake of having a version of him that would look closer to the correct scale next to the main line Autobots, but otherwise I'm not really interested in them (though as cheap, small, easy-to-transform, squarely-kid-targeted alternative lines go, they are pretty impressive). Next up, a couple of new Deluxes:

I like Blurr quite a bit. Swindle's just okay, but if I'm being honest I'll probably get him too. Next we have... Animated Skywarp? No not, quite, but still pretty cool...
    Click for full size
Looks nice, doesn't it? Even so, I'm gonna have to pass - Leaders are just too expensive to double-dip on. Now, for the definite highlight of the Animated portion of the panel: Voyager Shockwave.

No, he doesn't look much like the G1 version, but as I said when he was leaked, that just gives me hope that we'll eventually see a Universe version. And his gimmick more than makes up for it. For the benefit of anyone out there who hasn't seen his appearance on the show and cares about spoilers: he has a total of four forms: his normal bot and alt, and those of his Autobot cover identity, Longarm. Pic here.

  8. Now, on to the really good stuff - new Universe figures. We've known for a while Sideswipe was coming, but note how he's not just a straight redeco of Sunstreaker, what with his torso taking a different shape:
    Click for full size
Next we've got two Deluxes that each come with a companion - Hound with Ravage (who will apparently fit inside G1/reissue Soundwave) and, reviving the Targetmaster concept, Cyclonus with Nightstick. People who saw these at Botcon has been hyping them to high heaven ever since... they're nice and all, but not that great. Cyclonus' alt mode in particular does nothing for me, though his bot mode and gun buddy more than make up for it.

Next up, a treat for the Beast Wars fans in the audience (remember, Universe is about paying homage to the entire history of Transformers, not just G1):
    Click for full size
And backt to G1 homages for probably my favorite reveal of the presentation:
    Click for full size
I'm not generally interested in the Legends class - it's what I described the Animated Alternators as above, except minus the "pretty impressive" part - but I'll definitely make an exception for this guy, if he doesn't get any other treatment. (If you on the other hand like Legends, scope the attachments for three more.)

Oh, and remember the awesome Fracture we learned about a while back? Here she is with her wave-mates:
    Click for full size
...I'll gladly pass on the other two. Finally, info from the audience Q&A:
    Any more Master Pieces coming?
They are aware of them, but no plans coming just yet.

    13 Origins Comic Figures?
News to come as they get into to the comic.

    Arcee figure?
Some things in the works that they cannot talk about.
They know the love - and want to answer "where are the women?"

    Season 3 of Animated green-light?
Very clear they are working on next, but not announced yet.
    Wreckgar toy coming...

    Anymore Combiners?
Always possible - no plans to do a the ones that do now.

Can you amke Seaspry look cool?
We tried to a copuple time, but they will see.

    Voyager Bonecrusher?
Would love to more... not yet.

Can we get a Robot heroes set of Sari and BB?
They have been drawn up, when it makes sense in real product, Hasbro will find away.

    Why the Universe line?
was a great opp to do new things, as a stand alone series, with new forums and updated character. Address fan wants.

    A new Wheeljack Figure?
No ready to talk about it.

    Any more IDW toys?
Always looking to cross-pollinate, comic is importan to get the stories out,
As they make new ones, we look for ways to make more.

Starscream has a change, the forgotten logo will be added.

No plans for Human Animated toys yet.

    Bring Back Alternators!
We know there is a lot love, wait and see, (suggesting something will come)

Premium TFs were done because people wanted authenticy, they really wanted to offer updated figures.

    Any Japanese toys coming?
Trying to celebrate all eras, better than maybe a chance.

Animated Omega Supreme - no plans yet.

Wrekgar could be back in S3.

Ravage takes up 1` slot TRU Soundwave

Want to make Waspinator, definate possibilty.

Repaints of Starscream would liked to be done.

Voyager Soundwave, rumble, ravage or Soundwave?
No ravage, maybe Soundwave has another instrument. No soundwave plans.

    Sideshow collaboration?
Those are not made by toy team, so dont know.

    Why is Galvatron so small?
Not always their decision. They like the delux scale and want to make them affordable
No plans for a bigger one.

Possible to see more TF style items in fast food packs.

Marty does not know the answer to Female SS personality "you don't want to know"

    No leadre Lockdown.

Lockdown redeco? Why they hand problem?
Yes. It was designed that way.

    No new Universe Unincron
    Armada reissue at TRU.

Will there be a full-length Animated movie?
Not at the moment, but you never know these days

  9. Cosmos! Love that little guy, I finally got one a few months ago and it is cute. I agree with your on Fracture and the other 2 dudes (skipping those 2).

Inferno, Cyclonus and animated Shockwave look very nice.

  10. Hot stuff. Animated Shockwave looks badass, and Hound w/ Ravage is super-sweet.

I'm hoping Inferno will get a Hot Spot repaint somewhere down the line. Looks too much like Optimus in red.
