Thread: Shigeru Miyamoto to visit Nintendo World in NYC Sept. 25th

On second thought, that comic's just getting a link.

    This one's okay, though:

  2. Soo, yeah. Is anybody going to be there tomorrow?
I'll be the one playing NGPC all night.

  3. I woke up that Sunday at 6am so I could catch the first bus into new york, I arrived in the city around 7:30am, but I didn't get to the store until around 8, and already the line was long as hell. They were only letting two hundred people in to see miyamoto, and I was in 300th place. Later I came to find out that people had already began to camp out in front of the store at 6am on the 24th, and by 6am on Sunday the line was already down to the street corner (which was where I first joined the line). Eventually the line had swelled up to at least 600 people. The line went from the front of the store, down the street, around the corner, all the way down that side of the block, doubled back onto itself AND had to be rerouted across the street from the main line. The line had to be doubled back because there was a movie being filmed at the corner, called "The Devil Wears Prada".

The people at nintendo world were really cool about this though, they collected people's garbage and gave out free water and pizza to every one, which really impressed me, because they really didn't have to do shit for us, but did went of their way to do something nice.

The crowd was huge, and full of teenage nerds talking about the stupidest shit all day long. Every other person was playing nintendogs, even walking around the huge line with sole purpose of trading dogs with people. Also, I've never seen so many people wearing Game-Skins and Hot Topic video game shirts in one place. The 1-up mushroom shirt was being worn by like 100 people.

Around 11am (the start of the event) the nintendo store guys went around saying that they had given out the 200 tickets, but that people should stick around if they wanted to because there might still be a chance to get in "depending on mr.miyamoto's schedule".

They obviously did not expect such a huge turnout.

For the next two and a half hours random people would walk down the line and gloat about their experiences, one guy walked down wearing a power glove held high in the air. Another guy came up to where I was and started talking about his experience:

"It was amazing, I got to hug miyamoto take a ton of pictures with him and I traded nintendogs with him! Reggie was in there drawing characatures of people too, he came up to me, looked me right in the eyes and said 'Thanks for your support!', you could feel his power!"

And it pretty much went like that until around 1:30pm when the last guy came out and said "forget guys, it's over, he's done". And I was so damn close to the store too. I know this sounds bitter, but from what I heard, people were allowed to loiter around taking twenty pictures, playing the gamecube demos while reggie was in there drawing people wasting so much time while 600+ people were waiting patiently outside. They should've done it assembly line style "okay, you got your shit signed, NEXT!"

Eventually every one gave up and left the line and all crammed together in front of the store for a glimpse of miyamoto, and like a scene out of TRL miyamoto came up to the window and started doing random hand gestures with a big smile on his face, while the crowd went wild. The crowd started getting restless, and the told us to all leave and come back later when the store would be reoppened. This was when I left, so I don't know what happened next.

I got a bunch of pics of the crowd and some shitty shots of miyamoto at the window. Oh yeah, I also go two shitty DS skins that I will never use.

  4. Well lets see some pics man~~

That's what happens when you don't have any money.

    XD I'm sure they did.

That's when they broke through the glass and killed that really big security guard. Then Miyamoto kicked the living shit out of everyone, Smash Bros. style. That's what really happened.
    Donk
