Thread: Did PS3 Deliver The Knockout Punch To 360?

  1. I voted for option 3 because until I see some actual gameplay footage, I'm going to assume that all game presentations are not typical results. Konami could deliver the graphics everyone saw in the trailer into actual gameplay, but even with the real-time presentation they gave, I'm won't be convinced until it is actually implemented in the final game.

  2. For me, MS gave themselves the one-two punch. I was ready to get a 360 at launch, maybe even one of those stupid ass bundles. But MS is just making some really arrogant moves with the 360 launch. They took the excitement and steam out of their own launch without any help from Sony or Nintendo for that matter.

And it has nothing to do with the power of the system, or the graphic abilities. I don't think the X360 should be called Xbox 1.5, we know it's much more powerful than that.
I really don't expect to see any graphic differences between X360 and PS3. If they are, they will be very, very minor.

Microsoft is rushing to market with no great games. As good as some of the launch window games are, none of them are killer apps. None of them are what Halo was for Xbox1.

Do I still want an Xbox 360? I don't know, I guess. I don't really care anymore, whatever.

Microsoft needs to do something FAST to get the steat going again. Unless it's just TNL, does the rest of the 'net nerd world give a shit about it?

I'm sure there are some diehards who post in Major Nelson's blog who still care about the machine, but I personally lost enthusiam when the Core System was announced, because it means we won't get games that will utilize the hard drive much.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm now more interested in the Revolution than I am in the Xbox 360. This scenario wasn't even possible three months ago.

Download the next-gen Sonic demo video (available at gamespot), from what I understand it was running on a PS3 dev kit and was all in-game (since the guy was actually playing through a part of the stage.) It looks phenominal by the way.

It's everything I dreamt it would be. Perhaps more.

What is this launch window bullshit anyway? There is no "launch window" outside of the first week. When I go to buy your system I want there to be good games for me to play for it right then and there. If there aren't any then you have a bad launch. I hate that term. It's an excuse for Microsoft to have a softer launch while still claiming they had a good one.

Lets be good about this and strike its usage altogether. You hear that cka? Just put it right in the agreement, policy or whatever the hell it is you need to agree to in order to post. We're better than that.

  7. I'm not gonna go digging for the quote, but in another thread Yoshi said MS has no place in the market next generation as it's just doing everything Sony is, but not as well. I'm in near-total agreement with Yoshi, and that's frightening. (The "near" being that I'll eventually break down and get one even if only for the Q and Mistwalker exclusives, just like my Xbox existed only to play JSRF, Orta and KOTOR.)

Oh, and Yoshi... the Jeremy-riding is getting really damn tired. If you both lived in Florida you'd be in jail for that ridiculous cyber-stalking law Jack Thompson always threatens people with by now.

You'd be surprised how far the hype machine can take something. I cant count on my fingers and toes the number of times I get asked everyday about the X360. Not just the "net nerds" but 'frat guys', fathers, mothers, grandmothers, kids ,and everyone else in between. X-BOX has become a household name. People know that a new one is coming out soon and they want it - lack of decent software or not.

  9. To answer the original question, "Did PS3 deliver the knockout punch to 360?" I'd have to say yes. Whether or not Sony can maintain this public perception is yet to be seen, but as of right now I don't think many people (outside of die-hard fans) can say with a straight face that PS3 is no more powerful than 360. Judging by what both companies have shown, PS3 is looking next-gen while 360 is struggling to show a worthwhile difference between it and the Xbox.
