The MX510 doesn't have the DPI switching button like the MX518, though.
Being able to adjust your mouse sensitivity with the press of a button is more useful than you might think, especially for FPS's.

I have yet to use it for anything other than switching to 1600dpi when I was cutting an image in paint. Could you give me an example?

I hate those damned buttons. Have them on my mouse at work and I always hit them accidentally.
