I got the DQ8 demo the other day, there's an amazing amount of gameplay on there. There are two choices to play, Story or Battle. Story is about 2 hours of wandering around town, talking to people, exploring the countryside, spelunking a cave with a boss fight at the end, and then completing the mini-quest.

I didn't get around to doing much of the battle option, but it give you more characters at a higher level to play as against tougher monsters. One of the best RPG demos I've seen, no question.

Chux, nope, didn't play them. I didn't get into RPGs until about '93 or so.

That's not a bad time to get into them. I just have fond memories of staying up all night during summer vacations, or weekends playing my ass off.
