With the past two hurricanes, I've had to deal wtih a lot more religous talk with christians than I normally do. To add to this, my roommate refound god this summer.
He has some really interesting religious opinions about things now. For starters, Disney is evil....because they own a movie studio that also makes porn. Not for all their crappy movies and crappy teenager/school related shows, but for porn...um. yeah. Also Kiss, AC/DC, black sabbath, and Iron Maiden all worship the devil. Personally I think Ozzy has done to many drugs to comprehend the devil, and kiss, well, I don't know, can Jews worship the devil?
Oh and all this talk about the huricanes being cuases by god becuase the US has turned away from God. I don't know about you, but I'd like to state that I think such a beliefe is horse shit. The entire devine punishment thing seems really stupid to me because 1)you can't save DEAD people, 2) even if god is a big dick, din't he say he wouldn't be a big dick until the the end of days? I don't know, maybe I missed the part of the new testament where Jesus was busting out the ninja shit on unbeleavers.
I've had one kid tell me that he believes that no true believers where left in NO. He thinks God used them for his devine plan. HOW someone can claim that, I don't know. It boggled my mind.
I've been thinking about religion lately. This was one thing that has come up a few times that I thought we could all discus. BTW, sorry for the spelling errors and other such things. I'm figuring out tolerance loads on 3 cables lifting a dump truck inside a 3 demensional space. So, I'm a little destracted. (And yes, I know three of you fucking cunts on this board can do this shit while jacking off. Don't bother even pointing that out. We know, your awesome at math. blah blah blah)

Gotta love that Christian logic. Killing a fetus before it's even matured enough to comprehend pain is the ultimate evil, but they can find a way to justify, and even support, their boss killing off thousands of full-grown people who definitely feel pain.

Religion is a crutch. Some people need it to get through life. It's good that they at least have something to hold onto, instead of killing themselves or becoming psychotic.
Next time your roommate begins spouting off on all the evil in the world. Remind him about all the evil shit that has been done in the name of Christ. (Making the poor pay for the sins of dead relatives, castrating young boys for choir (true), the Crusades, the years of sexual abuse against young boys). All of those things were permitted by the highest levels of the church.

I was leaving the supermarket last night and saw a cassette tape lying on one of the vending machines. It contained a Christain program called "Unshackled" and it was basically this guy talking about how he used to drink beer, smoke pot, drop acid, and play bass in a band until he saw the light and found Jesus while watching late night TV. The re-enactments of the local neighborhood kids getting him to try drugs when he was a little boy were pretty funny, but eventually it all just became too tedious and I pitched the thing out of the window of my car.
I never really understood people needing to believe in a made-up deity, but hey, whatever gets you though life.

If you really think about it, when they say that, they don't mean in regards to everyone. They mean, God loves THEM, and ONLY THEM. They think that God, for whatever reason that they themselves do not understand, loves them more than others, and will destroy, hurt, and send to hell anyone else, all for their salvation and glory.
This is a complete oposite of what the bible teaches, as it goes to great length to describe how the "lost sheep" is more prized than the entire heard of "loyal and safe, sheep."
There is no way that will stand with him. I know he will blame those things on the evil pagan Catholics.
I'd much prefer they kill themselves.
