Please help me buy a keyboard, the price is irrelevant, I just want the best. I am looking for something like the 'classic' IBM Model M.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_Model_M_Keyboard
I want it to give audible feedback, as I am only going to be using it in my private home. The louder the click-noises, the better... It would be cool if it was real big sturdy like the old ones; built to last through a nuclear war.
Also it needs to be USB and work on a Macintosh Imac G5 without a hassle.
Utopia?
Ps. I seem to remember IBM relaunched a 'classic' remake model, but I can't seem to find anything about it anywhere?
edit:
I found the 'Matias Tactile Pro' for 99$ - which I will buy unless I find something suiting my needs more specifically. The Tactile Pro uses Alps key switches instead of buckling spring key switches which I would have preferred.

There are adaptors that let you connect a PS/2 keyboard to a USB port.
What the fuck makes a keyboard from 1997 worth $100?
Its a Model M thing...You wouldn't understand.Originally Posted by Josh
Seriously though, it's the construction. Its the best typing response you can have from a keyboard, and built like a tank so you could club someone to death with the thing. I lucked out and got mine from a surplus store for $5 about 8 years ago, its connected to its third computer and It will likely outlast the need for computers to have keyboards.
Mine is from 1988 BTW.

This page has some very useful info, including some ps/2 to usb adaptors that work with the Model M.

I could very easily have about ten of those in the parts box at my parents house.Originally Posted by Wildkat

Buy me one. I want a blank keyboard just for the novelty but I don't want to spend $100+ on the damn thing.
I don't have any personal experience, but this might just be what you are looking for:

They have 101-105 key layouts, and you can select PS2 or USB connections with most of their offerings. $79 for the ones I looked at.
