Ys Strategy

A new installment in Falcom's long running Ys series is on its way to the Nintendo DS, but it might not be an action role-playing game, as many might have expected. The latest issue of Famitsu reveals that Ys Strategy is currently in development for the double-screened handheld. The game will be published by Marvelous Interactive, and it currently has a "to be announced" release date. No details have been disclosed at the current time.

The announcement of Ys Strategy means that gamers will be able to enjoy the Ys series on both the DS and the PSP. Konami is scheduled to release Ys: The Ark of Napishtim for Sony's handheld this winter in Japan and in North America on January 1, 2006.

Seems like an odd series to turn into strategy, but I guess it could work.

Falcom has a free grid based strategy game available online. It's pretty neat, but I didn't play it as often as I should have.

I've never played any of the Ys. I want to, but I haven't.
