    Come on, IP.
In the 20 something crowd, yeah. Until recently I had never heard anyone my own age say anything racist about black people. Well there was this one kid but he was a piece of shit and no one liked him. But other than him, I went through 12 years of school without actually seeing real racism.

I didn't even see this shit my first year of college. I commuted, so I didn't partake in campus life. But after I moved into the dorm, I had some serious culture shock. There is a group of black guys, something like 15 or 20 of them (prob more) that are some of the meanest bastards I've ever met.

They openly stare, sneer and talk shit about you for just being there. I've had them breath down my neck and call me racial slurs just for taking out my garbage. They do this shit all over campus, tormenting and belittling anyone that they come across. They hate most white people (they love white women) and belittle and intimidate other black kids that dress nice and try hard in their classes. They are shitty shitty people.

Some of the kids that these guys treat like this don't react as well to it as I have. I know that it is just those guys and it doesn't say anything about other people. However a few of the more sheltered kids who live in mostly white towns are letting these assholes shape their initial opinion of poor black people.

But like you ask, most Mississippi kids are not racist. Southern white kids like the black kids just as much as they do anyone else. They love rap music, and all that other “urban” stuff that mtv says is “black” these days. In another thirty years the average white Mississippian won’t be anymore racist than a white person anywhere else.

Here's to the state of Mississippi,
For Underheath her borders, the devil draws no lines,
If you drag her muddy river, nameless bodies you will find.
Whoa the fat trees of the forest have hid a thousand crimes,
The calender is lying when it reads the present time.
Whoa here's to the land you've torn out the heart of,
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of.

Here's to the people of Mississippi
Who say the folks up north, they just don't understand
And they tremble in their shadows at the thunder of the Klan
The sweating of their souls can't wash the blood from off their hands
They smile and shrug their shoulders at the murder of a man
Oh, here's to the land you've torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of

Here's to the schools of Mississippi
Where they're teaching all the children that they don't have to care
All of rudiments of hatred are present everywhere
And every single classroom is a factory of despair
There's nobody learning such a foreign word as fair
Oh, here's to the land you've torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of

Here's to the cops of Mississippi
They're chewing their tobacco as they lock the prison door
Their bellies bounce inside them as they knock you to the floor
No they don't like taking prisoners in their private little war
Behind their broken badges there are murderers and more
Oh, here's to the land you've torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of

And, here's to the judges of Mississippi
Who wear the robe of honor as they crawl into the court
They're guarding all the bastions with their phony legal fort
Oh, justice is a stranger when the prisoners report
When the black man stands accused the trial is always short
Oh, here's to the land you've torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of

And here's to the government of Mississippi
In the swamp of their bureaucracy they're always bogging down
And criminals are posing as the mayors of the towns
They're hoping that no one sees the sights and hears the sounds
And the speeches of the governor are the ravings of a clown
Oh, here's to the land you've torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of

And here's to the laws of Mississippi
Congressmen will gather in a circus of delay
While the Constitution is drowning in an ocean of decay
Unwed mothers should be sterilized, I've even heard them say
Yes, corruption can be classic in the Mississippi way
Oh, here's to the land you've torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of

And here's to the churches of Mississippi
Where the cross, once made of silver, now is caked with rust
And the Sunday morning sermons pander to their lust
The fallen face of Jesus is choking in the dust
Heaven only knows in which God they can trust
Oh, here's to the land you've torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of

Not that I don't believe you, I just have to see it.

It's like the random Russian exchange student I met at a party four years back. He said (and I shit you not): In America they treat you people (yes, "you people") like dirt. In Russia, we like black people. We treat you good.

    Okay, I don't believe you.

I'm sorry to dave for spilling the beans, but I don't want any of you fucks getting me arrested for 'suspicion of being non-caucasian'. That's a felony in this state, btw.
Nigga please, you're the blackest person I know.

  6. IP's statement doesn't seem that farfetched. I'm guessing that everyone may be trying to rile IP for whatever frat house-ruled reason, but the type of behavior IP outlined wouldn't surprise me from certain areas of the South.

While there aren't bashing and feuds going on left and right in these kinds of places, there is still a lack of civil class in certain areas that aren't always seen to by authoritative people. Folks just turn the other cheek more often down here. Just my two cents.

Well if you are ever in the area look me up. Me and Flux can take you around the state. No one our age is going to treat you badly, and the older people at worst will ignore you.

Think about it, beer, BBQ, and Cornbread.

Well they aren't entire wrong. Forty years ago the negative shit they are saying would be very much true. Even today there are still a few ignorant poor white trash assholes in this state. But that group of people is getting smaller from each generation to the next.

  9. You know, for what it's worth, the first time I saw racism was when I went to tech school in Biloxi, Mississippi when I was 19. I had a white boyfriend and people would sneer at us with obvious disgust when we walking around town. I would be waiting to get service in stores and they would help other white people first. I also got followed around HARDCORE when I was in stores. That might have been because I was a teenager though. Biloxi was a nasty, filthy town and I am glad that shit got torn up in Katrina. Nothing against you IP, if I ever came out that way I would totally look you up because you sound like a cool guy I could hang with.

  10. I dated a chick from Kentucky for awhile (she was pretty cool, her family was as well) but fuck they could tell I was a northerner outright, I'm italian and look it very much, plus I didn't dress like a redneck, and they treated us like shit were ever we went dirty looks all that shit, some southern hospitality I tell you
