Thread: Radio is now dead to me in the NY area

  1. Radio is now dead to me in the NY area

SO yeah Infinity broadcasting has decided that when stern leaves in January K-Rock the only station I'll listen to will become Free FM an all talk radio station

this combined with no more 101.1 means theres no station in the NY Area I can stand to listen to and radio is officially dead to me
    Where I play

LOL @ anyone who actually listens to KRock when Howard isn't on.

Apparently they'll still play music on weekends.

Just get an iPod and steal music like the rest of the modern world.

Get used to it. Music over commerical radio is a dying concept. None of the corporations are willing to deviate from the 1000 song playlist anymore and risk that oh-so precious ad revenue. The Result? Music listeners are flocking to Mp3 and Satellite Radio. And the Jack Format? Looking at the latest ratings in New York, they should have stuck to oldies...

The Only formats left on broadcast radio in the near future will be "R&B/Hip-Hop" Stations, Spanish, and talk radio. And satrad is still going to make a big dent in the later.

  7. Public Radio is the only radio worth listening to, at least in the NYC area. Lucky us, we got two. 93.9 and 90.7. 90.7 plays a lot of shit, but some good stuff too, like Stereolab, Belle and Sebastian, and the Stubbs the Zombie soundtrack.

You kid! I must listen to such a wacky station during one of the many times in which my Discman sucks.

  9. 105.5 isn't bad, and it's definitely less repulsive than KRock is right now.

  10. This is what happened to HFS around here. First it was alt rock 24/7, then switched to Spanish. That lasted 2 weeks, they ended up on another Infinity station 105.7 they had Stern, Don and Mike etc, and at 7 they turned back into HFS. It stayed that way for like 3 months, and then became the official station of the MD Terps, so whenever some game was on HFS was pre-empted. I turned off my XM this morning to hear what Stern was talking about and noticed that now it's 105.7 WHFS, FREE FM.

    WTF @ Terrestial Radio
    XM FTW.
