Seriously. Arcade auction, eBay, classifieds, anything! This thing is garbage.
A MAME cab is easy to make.
Step 1: Buy old cab.
Step 2: Gut cab.
Step 3: Stuff in old PC with ROMZ and CRT monitor.
Step 4: Buy XArcade or HotRod.
Step 5: Spiff it up a bit.
Step 6: Fun!
This is what I did. Old Congo Bongo cab that was butchered by an awful conversion to a MVS one slot. Cleaned it out, dropped my old P3 1ghz and 19" CRT in, and the HotRod I've had for ever... insta-MAME cab. All I have to do now is buy a MAME marque and bezel, and repaint it.
I pretty much did what Portnoyd did. Except I made the cabinet out of some heavy MDF. I'm always looking for an excuse to use my tools.
Really, the hardest part was setting up the frontend software and getting a good selection of games up and running.
I took at sitdown cab and stuck a Dreamcast in it. It makes me happy. I'm going to put an xbox in it too. Then its on.
I don't think I'd want a VGA monitor in my cab. Highly inappropriate. I believe there is a low res video card "arcade" something or other that we used to talk about. I think Cheebs was its #1 fan. I forget.
VGA monitors are dirt cheap, though.
I haven't seen any good, cheap 15kHz monitors.
Yeah, I got a 17" LCD, and the 19" was just sitting there. Instant fit.
I think the thing Josh is talking about is called a jPRC? iJRC? iPAC? Something like that.
