    New Harvest Moon for DS
Marvelous announces a completely original DS entry in the long-running farming sim.
    by Anoop Gantayat
November 1, 2005 - The Harvest Moon series is now in its tenth year of letting gamers throughout the world experience the life of a farmer, and Marvelous Interactive, the Japanese publisher of the series, is celebrating in a big way. The company has already announced Innocent Life: Shin Bokujou Monogatari ("New Harvest Moon") for the PSP. To this, it added today Rune Factory: Shin Bokujou Monogatari for the DS.

Rune Factory is being developed by the Neverland Company, known for its vast library of Japan-only PlayStation 2 strategy titles. Described by producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto as Harvest Moon where you wield a sword, the game is being developed with the idea of creating a fantasy world in which the player exists, rather than the standard type of RPG where you play the role of a hero and work your way through a storyline. You'll be able to capture monsters, raise them on your farm, and add them to your adventuring party.
Both Rune Factory and Innocent Life are part of the "Shin Bokujou Monogatari" (New Harvest Moon) series, which includes games that differ from the traditional Harvest Moon titles. A release for the DS title is planned for some time in 2006.
Weeeeeird. This and Innocent Life should be great. I like the idea of living in a world where you're not the hero.

  2. Uhm... WTF? Why not make this a different line of games, instead of screwing up the Harvest Moon line with this stuff?

And is this THE DS Harvest Moon? I thought there was a "normal" HM game coming to the DS - is it still coming?
WARNING: This post may contain violent and disturbing images.

  3. No. There's another one for DS.

Actually, this is a different series. It's NEW Harvest Moon.

    See?

I believe that one was already released in Japan.

Yeah I saw this yesterday and thought about making a thread for it but didn't. It sounds kind of weird, but I'm at the very least curious. I read reviews of the "normal" Harvest Moon DS game released in Japan and wasn't very impressed with the way they implemented the touch screen use. Seems like Harvest Moon would be the perfect type game to take advantage of it, but they didn't really do much with it. But, yeah, I believe there are two in development for DS right now, a normal one and the fantasy one, tho I could be wrong there.

I'm still happy with the SNES Harvest Moon game, every other one I've tried to play has been a total abortion for me.

I think there are far too many of these out now.

Amusing how they're confusing Neverland with Idea Factory. For one moment, I thought I was reading The Magic Box.

  8. ... GRABIS. THERE ARE TWO. THAT'S WHAT I SAID. SEE PICTURE? OLD DS HARVEST MOON.

Yo Mzo, you play Mineral Town or A Wonderful Life? I was pretty happy with those.

Back To Nature is one of the best games ever and Friends of Mineral Town is an upgrade of that, and More Friends of Mineral Town let's you play that upgraded version of Back To Nature as a cute girl. Abortion? I think not.
