I dunno. Black looks fine with brown. What makes it such a bad choice? Also, navy blue doesn't look that bad with black either but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Dark brown and especially Navy Blue are too close to black in shade. I mean personnally, I think black and brown is passible, I didn't realize it was bad until I got a girlfriend and she told me that it didn't match. Navy and Black is just tacky looking though.
