I'm not "blatantly inflating" anything. I didn't even state a number, so don't accuse me of anything. I did say "huge amount", which is a purely subjective "number."Originally Posted by g0zen
Insourcing also refers to US companies that outsource work to other US companies. The company I work for (Sikorsky Aircraft) does this all over the place. In fact, a lot of people here are pissed because the work is going to places all over the country. However, the net effect is that these particular jobs are still being done by Americans. Dose it suck? You bet! And it creates its own set of unique problems.
Yeah, labor laws are a little more lax in the South, mainly due to unions, but it's not like they are running sweat shops ala Bangladesh and China.
My macroecnomic teacher made a pretty good case for there being more manufacturing jobs in the US than ever before. But again like I said, I'm sure he's biased.
And i like PBS programming probably more than most people, but there is no mistake that most of it is skewed waaaay left. I consider myself to be a bit left of center on most issues.
Are manufacturing jobs leaving the US? I'm sure of it, but I'm not sure it's all as bad as they make it out to sound. What pisses me off more is that jobs get shifted around under the guise of providing savings which will be passed onto the end consumer. This is complete bullshit, (IMO) it's just the fat bitches at the top that collect on the savings.
The wealth gap in this country is the biggest problem. Americans don't want to work? I call bullshit! Pay someone what a job is worth (a decent living wage) and not what some wetback is willing to take. I firmly believe the savings are not being passsed along. There is NO excuse for what 99% of CEO's are making.
Wow, that went off into a digression.![]()
