    All totally awesome places.
East Harlem/Spanish Harlem actually is a kinda fun place to bum around on occasion.

Gray's Papaya for hot dogs. There's one near Port Authority. Valentino's on Kissena near 73rd avenue in Fresh Meadows for pizza. You'll have to go to Queen's, tho.

They supposedly have really awesome pizza. If you go to New York or Chicago you have to eat the pizza. Is this a lie?
New York has the best food in the world. Just don't eat at McDonalds.

Also, try to get mugged. Their muggers are world famous. Walk down back alleys, travel alone a lot, and wear nice suits in seedy looking parts of town to help the process along. I'll never forget that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer "mugs" George for the New York tour bus service.
Better yet, wander the subways by yourself really late at night. Make sure to carry a really expensive digital camera and an iPod.

ToyTokyo, St. Marks Games (MM 1.0)
Both awesome and really close to each other. Take the F or V subway down to 2nd ave. and walk north to St. Mark's Place. You'll pass Tokyo about a block south of that. They have this godzilla that's hard to miss. St. Marks Games is on St. Mark's Place. There are at least two Japanese markets close by. There's a little Thai place called Thailand Café a few blocks down from Toy Tokyo on 2nd that i LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE. 12-3:30pm, decent priced lunch special. I recomend the rama.

If you walk up Broadway (a few streets west) towards Union Square there's a nice comic/anime/collectable shop called Forbidden Planet.

The Nintendo Store at Rockefeller Center is a waste of time, but Kinokuniya, mentioned by Scourge, is the best thing in that area.

On 30th, between 6th and 7th avenues is a nice anime and import toy shop called Image anime.

  4. Does NYC have a Sega World? Or am I still living in the 90s?

  5. I had a good time just riding the subway around by myself and exploring. It's cheap to do and you can find some very cool places.

I was never aware there was ever a Sega World in NYC! I know there is some Nintendo themed place somewhere in manhattan (I think in Times Square??).

You're living in the 90's. Hurry! The awesome block of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Blossom is airing on your TV right NOW!

But seriously, I don't think NYC ever had a Sega World.

Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center. The place will become interesting near the U.S. launch of the Revolution. Until then, there's no reason to visit unless you want to pick up limited-edition stuff.
    R.I.P. Paragon Studios

  8. In case people don't read posts, SoldatoJ is going to New York this weekend and wants to know some interesting places to go!

What's wrong with it, aside from it being Nintendo?

  10. I'm just being a jerk. The Nintendo store was brought up 4 times and it's the last thing you want to see in NYC.
:P I love Nintendo. The store itself is dissapointing. If you want a shirt or Pokémon trinket, by all means, visit, but only if you were in the area anyway. They have a nice display of Nintendo history, but even that's tiny.
