Thread: Games that don't deserve their soundtracks.

  1. Actraiser 2, maybe.
The first game was short and easy, but I think it deserved that soundtrack.
The Symphonic Suite CD is a masterpiece, btw.

    WHAT??

If you want to bash on Chrono Cross's characters or storyline, that's fine. I can accept that.

But bashing on ANY part of the game system and engine? Oh hell no. Chrono Cross s**ts on most other games when it comes to that, and it certainly does on Xeno[whatever].

As far as the topic, offhand, I remember that that Batman game on SegaCD had an awesome soundtrack, but was only an okay game.

  3. Silpheed for SegaCD, although the game was pretty good when it first came out, but it isn't really a good shooter.

  4. Baroque. Brilliant music wrapped around an unworthy game.
    "Fiends! Animals! Bastards!"

  5. Sega CD Eye of the Beholder. The Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack is excellent, but it's not remotely appropriate for a D&D dungeon crawler.

Unlimited SaGa is the most dramatic example of a SaGa game not deserving its soundtrack. Awesome soundtrack, terrible game. The rest of the games are better-blended with its music (and are better-playing besides). Every game in that series seems to receive some of Square's best musical effort.

Related to that is Musashi Samurai Legend. Masashi Hamauzu (from SaGaFro2 and USaGa) and Junya Nakano provided a soundtrack that was much better than the game.

Genpei Toumaden's soundtrack and atmosphere are the only reasons I find myself returning to that scattered mess.

Riviera's soundtrack pretty easily outshines the rest of the game.

  6. terminator (sega cd)

  7. Mr. Bones for the Saturn had a really nice soundtrack, but the game itself was mediocre.

More like fixed for falsehood. Metroid is great. I'm always HaP it.
