I'll put a nod up for soulblade, it's all about kahn Super Session.

I should also mention Contra III. I swear some of those tracks were ripped from predator.

Are you high? Contra III is fucking awesome.

I'll second that.. the original Tenchu worked very, very well with its music.

Metal Gear Solid 2 had a great soundtrack but the substance was nowhere near as good as the style.
