    Turn the remote-thing sideways and it's a regular 2 button NES controller, which gives it one more button than the game requires.

    No it's not. When Nintendo announced the remote controller they also said they were making a more standard controller as well, to which the motion-sensetive remote controller plugs into much like a VMU. They just didn't show it because the design wasn't finalized yet. But IGN took it upon itself to make up a (horrible) artist-rendered version of what it might look like. The sole purpose of this controler is so the revolution can still play "normal" games like ports but still retain the advantage of the motion-sensing stuff that could be added in as an extra.

  4. The revolution has FOUR gamecube controller ports on it, suggests your might be able to use GameCube controllers.
