I think games like Loco Roco and Every Extend Extra are a small but significant step toward this. Proves "niche" games with unique gameplay don't require a touch screen or "next gen" graphics (not that that doesn't go without saying) Sony just needs to keep supporting games like this (and show it by releasing games like Loco Roco to a wider audience)

  2. Nintendo of Japan issued an apology on their website today due to the fact that the DS is completely sold out in the entire country of Japan. Even with increased production to try to deal with the increased demand, there was still more demand for it than they could keep up with.

As well, launch sales for Brain Training 2 was 450,000 copies. Nuts.

  3. After reading most of this thread it makes me wish I could afford a new system. But between a house and paying for my new tv I can barely afford games for the systems I already own

It's like Nintendo made a cell phone over there.

  6. Insane. How DS games continue to sell that well 2 weeks after christmas and during a hardware shortage is amazing.

  7. Well, in Japan, kids get money for New Year's, and Christmas really isn't a huge holiday, so it would make more sense for there to be more sales near the beginning of January than around Christmas time.

Because of that, the DS shortage comes at a bad time.

  8. Ok, now it's like Nintendo made a Playstation 2 over there.

What if Sara buys a DS for herself and shares it with you? But then you'd be playing Nintendogs but no Mario Kart.

    *ahem*

No but seriously, the house and the TV are a better purchase.
