Thread: The War On Christmas

  1. Nobody's offended by Christmas.
    Companies and politicians are just playing it safe like a bunch of pc pussies, and giving christian nutjobs something to blow out of proportion.
    You never hear anyone defending the holidays that are really under attack, like Halloween, or April Fool's Day.

I like saying "Happy Holidays" Especially since I live in a very diverse town and have to deal with all the various religious people shopping for whatever holiday it is that they are celebrating at my job, I'd rather just wish them an overall happy, rather than just a merry something. Ya know?

    You know.

  3. December 25 is Christmas. It's either a religious holiday or a time for a fat man in a red suit to toss presents down a chimney. I don't think anyone worth listening to has an issue with this being the Christmas season, especially seeing as I'm hearing religious Christmas carols being butchered on the mall muzak system on a daily basis.

    The people getting riled up over "Happy Holidays", as have been said, are just getting riled up for the sake of getting riled up. Yeah, it is being politically correct to say Happy Holidays, because this is a time for multiple holy times/holidays. Dia De Las Muertos, Chanukah, Kwanza, Christmas, New Years are five major holidays, 2 of them religious, one of them as a celebration of culture, and 2 as recognized holidays by the goverment. It's not a matter of "attack" as it is a matter of simplicity to say. People like Bill O'Riley who are getting angered over this really need a new focal point of attack, I guess it's a slow political season if Iraq ain't cuttin it.

  5. Bush put "Happy Holidays" to avoid offending others, not because anyone was particularly pre-offended by it. So who's the war against?

    No, if someone says "happy holidays" and you flip out and consider it an attack on Christmas and the values of the country and blah blah blah, you need something new to get offended about because that's a pretty lame choice.

    If someone tells you to stop saying "merry Christmas" because it's offensive, you've got a reason to be pissed. If someone says "happy holidays" and you get pissed, you're just being uptight and stupid. But maybe that isn't apparent to someone like yourself.

    Yeah, we really should take the celebration of Christmas back to it's roots.

    Those roots being Pagan Sun Festivals for those of you who are stupid enough to believe that Christianity has any original ideas or holidays.
