Currently I'm playing Tron 2.0 and Scrapland, but, uh, those don't really help the subject.
I never played, but I assume it was blah. It's probably just just your standard deathmatch shit. I didn't like how loose F.E.A.R. felt, like a lot of other shooters. I guess I've just been jaded by CS and HL.

That is definitely the way to go. There is more content in UT2004 than anything else out in the market today. Plus, it runs smooth on most computers as long as you have a decent CPU.

Nah, Quake 4's multiplayer wasn't good at all. Take Quake 3 add Doom 3 engine = Quake 4 multiplayer. I'm sure that the community will be robust, though.

I'd be happy with a new bunch of well-tested maps and updated graphics and weapon effects at this point.
I highly doubt that there will be a Team Fortress 2 . You'll be waiting a very long time, I think.

Very true. Thats one thing that ruined the UT community. A server would say 10 players, but it would actually be 10 bots. That really did annoy me. You can find players if you look hard enough, but the biggest problem is that they made the bots very very good, and most people just play with a few friends and some bots. People don't leave servers up long enough for anything to really get started. That being said, if you have some like-minded friends that are good at the game, you cannot go wrong with it.

Fear's multiplayer wasn't good at all. It turned into a jump kick- fest. Very spammy and not very fun. Its worth getting for the single player, though. Dig the A.I. on those enemies!!

Sweet ! Both you and Gros can completely own me at it! Keep me informed on it.

  3. When I'm not playing NBA 06 on PS2 (online is fantastic.) I play CS:S. I had CoD2 but mutiplayer just doesn't cut it for me. I thought BF2 was rather poor as well. PC gaming is just kind of sad these days. Nothing much good is coming out. I have a top end pc but console games like NBA 06 (yeah yeah graphics aren't as pretty...) just have more substance and are just overall a funner waste of my time to me

  4. I'd vote for Quake 4...

It has plenty of good servers out there and the top players in the world are diving in.

But if you want alot of options. HL2 is the way to go. Extra content is abundant and you can always use Steam to get CS:S and DOD:S. Especially if this Goldeneye mod turns out to be decent. http://www.goldeneyesource.com

  5. It’s a shame that your computer has been unable to install BF2, but I must maintain that BF2 offers the most epic and visceral battles of any multiplayer FPS currently on the market. The sheer versatility of playing styles offered to the player and the strong sense of camaraderie that can develop between keenly coordinated squads is unmatched by any rival FPS.

I’ll concede that the technical issues that have harmed the game since its launch and the ever-present visibility of n00bs and imbeciles do bring the general enjoyment level down a notch or two (still, few online games go unaffected by such issues), but both of those downers are currently in decline, and BF2’s overall online experience is still more immediately rewarding from round to round, and thanks to the aforementioned assortment of playing styles and near limitless paths of approach to tackling conflicts within the game’s vast battlefields, BF2 has near limitless lasting power.

If your PC is capable of running BF2 and you do not already own a copy then you’re missing out on the FPS market’s most versatile and engaging multiplayer experience.

As for other games, I’m still actively involved in clan play for both UT 99 and CS:S, as both games still offer committed playing communities and classic gameplay coupled with timeless level designs. My UT clan spent some time with UT 2004, but we eventually just went back to UT 99 after getting somewhat fed up with the lack of competition in the sniper community (I’ve always stuck exclusively to sniper arena play). Since BF2 came out I haven’t touched UT 2004, as BF2’s conquest mode and UT 99’s CTF/DM/TDM modes all offer similar yet superior gameplay experiences.

If you’re looking for the best multiplayer WWII shooter, I’d suggest DOD:S. Like CS:S, DOD:S’ online community is quite large, and the game’s only true issue (the small number of official maps) will soon be remedied as new content continues to flow out from VALVE.

  6. I've been playing Quake 3 LAN more than anything else, but if I play anything online, its usually CS:S or DoD. Quake 4 looks slick, but hell if I can be bothered to play it with the campus connection.

So, uh, Halo 2. It's been out for ages and I still can't tell if I completely love it or completely hate it.

  7. The only reason you'd hate it is becuase Nomi is better than you.

    OH SNAPS, SON

  8. She definitely is (we should do a 1v1 or something), heh, but that's not why I'd hate it.

It's wierd; I almost always enjoy playing the game, but I never actually feel like sitting down and playing it without eight people stopping by and going "Halo tonight?" On top of that, Halo 2 is pretty much the only game to ever get me frustrated. Not like that Croyt kid or whatever, but I get all serious, straight-faced and retarded with it from time to time. When I'm doing well, it's insanely satisfying. When I'm sucking, it's beyond frustrating and completely unfun.

Maybe I'll play on Live over break, since I'm home and all.

  9. Does UT99 have alot of servers still up or is it usually private, clan-play? UT2004 is like that. While I'm talkin 99, what maps does your clan play on competetively? I know you guys play snipe-only. I'm just curious.

Also, good points on BF2. I couldn't have said it any better.
