Well, it took all the things I loved about the original game and pooped all over it. The awesome music in the first one? Gone and replaced with crappy remixes done lounge style. Charming 2-D style graphics? Those were replaced with sub par 3-D models and terrible animation and cutscenes. Really cool puzzles were replaced with stupid puzzles that are even harder to solve because you have to fight with the camera to see what the fuck is going on in the dungeons and towns. This game also has one of the worst translations I have seen in awhile; loads of spelling errors and sometimes the text ran right out of the speech boxes, it was sloppy as hell. Not to mention they used the shitty "find" system from Wild Arms 3. You mean to tell me I can't see this huge fucking castle right in front of me unless I use this radar? Screw that. Did you ever play the original game?

Yes, I own all 4 Wild Arms, will get WA4 the day it comes out, I also have OSTs for all of them (except ACF and 4) and will be getting the anime soon (although it is kinda bad but hey, ADV is practically giving copies away now). I don't say I'm a wild arms junky for nothing.

Not really, it took all the things from WA1 and updated it to the WA3 style of gameplay. If you don't like the remixed music, well............ there's not much I can say about that, some of the new stuff I didn't like that much, others I really liked, over all, I'd say it's a good remix. Michiko took the old trakcs, and, like the rest of the game, turned them into WA3 style, I thought the 3-d models were fine, do realize this game went into production like 2 years ago and it's Agetec's fault it didn't get here until the end of like 2005. The exquisite detail of the towns, buildings and such make up for it IMO. The puzzles seemed to be just about the same to me, I never once had to "fight" the camera to do one, readjust, yes, fight? No. Fighting a Camera is playing certain parts of Mario Sunshine.

The translation was kinda shoddy but hey, that's Wild Arms standard, if you expceted a good trans, oh the fuck well. Maybe WA4 will have one, but I'm not counting on it. Which leaves us with the "Search System" which I've found VERY realistic since it's inception in WA2, not 3. I've done a fair share of defending the Search system for a long time now.

In real life, your character is not a 200 ft tall giant whose size rivals the towns and castles that you are finding. You're a tiny almost nothing dot on the map. The castles and towns aren't much bigger either. So if you were to be a tiny dot, finding other dots you'd have to "search" for them, the radar is your team looking around the area to see if you can find anything. Remember, in real life, if you're 10 miles away you can't see shit, like, unless it's gigantic, which WA style towns and cities are, or unless the terrain is to your advantage. Especially in forests. Besides, in ACF the game even puts a blinking dot on the map of where you need to search, so what's so hard about walking around, pushing the square button at the right spot and going to the next town?

Or am I just such a fan of WA over all that I'd irrationally like just about anything they throw at me? Overall I'd say that WAACF is one of the better experiences I've had of 2005.

Soul Calibur 3 being as big a pile of shit as it is probably the low point of 2005.

I would say this is hitting the nail on the head. It is 2005, I demand good translations. DQ8 has spoiled me for all future RPGs.

  5. WA3 has the worst world map system EVER. It's so pointless and retarded.

    OPINION INVALIDATED!

Was the game perfect? No, but it was pretty good. It was a whole helluva lot better than Alter Code F, that's for sure.
    Time for a change

  7. Destroying the chainsaw baddies in the first major fight scene in re4.

Dude, they lobotomized SC2, I "really like" Wild Arms, but I LOVE Soul Calibur, I can't stand the way they watered the game down so hard core. Namco went out of their way to pander to the casual crap gamer and made a fighting game that's like 3 steps back from SC2. Less Auto GIes (i.e. Raph lost his Auto GI for Vertical attacks), Guard breaks changed to "moves with good block stun" and curiously enough Raphael has NO GUARD BREAKS, me being one of the biggest names in Raph play (wrote a 30 page guide on him for SC2) can't stand how they needlessly nerfed him, you can no longer defend (re-GI) after getting hit with a quake stun, less delayed moves, can't cancel like 90% of the move list now, so much of SC2 was taken out and replaced with well, not a whole lot, the game is essentially Tekken 4 with swords, oh yeah, they raped the while standing system so you now have tech traps in SC which means that you'll often find yourself taking lots of non-guaranteed damage in order to avoid "teching wrong, or simply teching period" which is NOT SC. That shit is Tekken territory.

Animegirl, DQ8 is a great game yes, in fact I'll play as soon as I finally finish WA ACF but it's not like the translation in WA ACF is unplayable and it's nowhere near the trans. job of WA2 which is probably the worst in the series where there's times where you can't even figure out who's talking to who (mostly when they're talking about Tim and the Mediums and the Liz and Ard sections of the game). I still don't think ACF is that bad, I like it and think it's a solid RPG. I guess I'm just too easy to please considering I think a lot of the ideas they used in Unlimited SaGa are charming and somewhat clever.
