Thread: Top gaming moments 2005

  1. Best Multi: Smash. Even after about 4 years it's still one of the best fighters out there. SC was too complex for my tastes. I love it and all but it takes too much memorizing just to get all the moves down for a character, let alone multiple ones. 'Tis why Smash's simplicity and overall depth makes me crave the series more and more. Revolution can't come any sooner.

Best Single: Geometry Wars with friends. No question.

Worst: Shelling out $400 for Geometry Wars and a few good moments. 360 will remain a disappoint until Oblivion comes out. It will become god-like when they release Worms: Armageddon in the arcade (wishful thinking).

Worst (in game): PDZ quickly loosing my interest and respect. Rare has gone down the fucking shiter in the past few years. They can redeem themselves by re-releasing the original PD (more wishful thinking).

Well, the art is very misleading to the actual gameplay. It makes sense to say that if the artwork, and nothing else is what interested you in a game, than you really don't much about it (not a personal jab, but how I felt about the game). I'd give it a rental at most, but it's presentation far exceeds the amount of fun you'll actually have with this game.

  3. 1. MGS3
    2. RE4
    3. AW DS
    4. OUENDAN
    5. IBARA

Oldie but a goodie: HALO 2

Fuck. I totally forgot about God of War.

Worst moment: Hades. Fucking. Spinning. Blades.

  5. Best gaming moment: When I told the clerk I'd changed my mind at the last minute and he could put the PSP back, after staring at $500 of buyer's remorse in the palm of my hands. I still give myself mental high-fives over that one.

Worst Gaming moment: Xbox 360's summer of painful announcements - less power than PS3, no standard hard drive, gouge-fest peripherals, Xbox 1.5 visuals, no 1080p, no true killer app, $100 more than everyone thought it would be, and still lukearm Japanese support. I'm sure it'll still have a decent run, and the Live integration is marvellous, but after being a huge Xbox fan and getting really excited for 360, it was a kick in the gut to find it so underwhelming.

I just experienced another fantastic moment: the alternate ending of King Kong. What a powerful and moving ending. I think I prefer it to the 'real' one.

    FRIEND!
The first WA had that stupid clock puzzle. I never did figure that out.
Magna Carta is um... Like or hate. I don't hate it, certainly, but i can't imagine everyone liking it. See: me trying to defend it. But hey, i actually like UNLIMITED : saga. Not just like the ideas, like the whole dad-gum experience.

Best- #1 Buying Band Bros. #2 Buying Ouendan. #3 Finally god-dang getting Shantae at a not ridiculous price. There were a lot more. It was a great year.

    Worst- Killing my first DS.
    Donk

What? How is this possible? You love kittens for Pete's sake, how could you kill your DS?

I completely forgot about that part. That one sequence of spinning blades totally slowed down the rest of the game and gave it a pretty bad lasting impression.

  9. In real life, your character is not a 200 ft tall giant whose size rivals the towns and castles that you are finding. You're a tiny almost nothing dot on the map. The castles and towns aren't much bigger either. So if you were to be a tiny dot, finding other dots you'd have to "search" for them, the radar is your team looking around the area to see if you can find anything. Remember, in real life, if you're 10 miles away you can't see shit, like, unless it's gigantic, which WA style towns and cities are, or unless the terrain is to your advantage.
    This makes no sense.

    LO FUCKING L!!

Bojack, it's apparent you're passionate about games, but c'mon man. You would be able to spot a huge castle from 10 miles away if you were in a valley and this WA game sucks ass. You may like it, which is fine, we all like stuff that sucks once in awhile, but give the game its due. You're not going to convince animegirl to like the game, so just let it rest. The same can be said about SC3 and g0zen. You're not going to change his stance with a long paragraph about how lame the changes to your favorite character is.

I don't like SC3 simply because Namco whored out its franchise way too close to the last release. You can tell an executive at Namco was worrying about their financial numbers and some suited monkey suggested that they should release a new Soul Calibur because it's one of their great sellers. Short term game for long term intellectual property errosion sucks.

Holy crap, we may never discuss RPGs ever again.

I almost quit playing that game forever because of that part. It is one of the most frustrating game sequences ever.
