I got a WRT54G here too. I just set my PC and Xbox to use .101 and .102 respectively, and my bro in-laws laptop/nephews psp usually snatch up some other random free ip address. If you really need specialized ports open on those machines, try playing around with port triggering. That way, if you run an application on the laptop and it's in DHCP mode, you can have the router auto-forward the port based on the application launched (eg; bittorrent).
As for wireless security, you can't go wrong with mac address filtering + WPA-SPK. That should keep just about everybody but the most dedicated hackers off your network.
