Thread: PS3 to offer online service?

  1. PS3 to offer online service?

Probably announced awhile ago -- (if so, sorry) but thought it was worth a shot. Looks like Sony is finally going to wise up and bring a unified online gaming system to its next iteration of the PlayStation console.

It should be obvious by now that this would be a logical move for them given the continued success of Xbox Live.

  2. Considering the vast media resources Sony has, the "PS3 Live Marketplace" could be chock-full of cool downloads. But, they have a tough act to follow, and MS has a Generation head-start on them

  3. I wouldn't have any expectations for PS3 online what so ever, if only so I would be happy with whatever they presented, but some of the stuff they've already done with the PSP make me think certain features will be pretty much guaranteed. If they turn Connect into their marketplace, from within the PS3 interface, and offer music, movies, tv shows, books, and XBLA-style downloadable games, that would be fantastic to me. A lot of people don't seem to want non-videogame features in their systems, but digital content is the way of the future, even if you have all of that content on physical hardcopies. Just having it all in one device is amazing, to me.

With the backwards compatibility, XBLA, virtual console, and things like these, owning the PS3, 360, and Rev will essentially be like having the entire history of videogames available at your fingertips. And that sounds awesome to me.

Also, one login for all games + achievements pls.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

I think I'd settle for "works".

  5. I just hope they have mic support for every game and not just socom. Or in XII you couldn't chat at all.

  6. Those games suck though

The same holds true for a modded XBox. But lets not go there

  8. they should just use PlayOnline... everyone loves that, right?
look here, upon a sig graveyard.

  9. I'll take it, even if it's just online matchmaking (like the original xbox live) and free/somewhat cheaper. Also, like I said in another thread, it would be the cats meow if they set the PS3 up to act as a upnp media renderer like the 360 but didn't cripple it to the point where you need Windows MCE to use it to its full functionality.

  10. If Sony pulls something outta their ass thats as good as if not better than Live, the 360 is totally screwed. I love my 360 but I dont think Halo 3 alone could save it. 360 needs Live and having a Live on PS3 is going to hurt.
Korly-"Everyone here is an asshole, SURPRISE!"
