You could just as easily have six guitarrists with six guitars playing one string at a time.

The big thing here is the entire way the whole thing is set up completely kills improvisation, not just that 2-man bass. To acheive a decent sound, everyone pretty much has to be on point in playing the previously composed music in a synchronized fashion.

Of course, you could allow a couple people to "solo," but I mean, they only have one string to do shit with.

I guess it'd be interesting to compose with because you can make wider chords....but I mean, shit, it's not like people are reinventing the piano becuase you can't hit all the keys everywhere at once.

What they should do instead is make a band with some different instruments. All that shit they do there can simply be done with multiple recordings that are edited together.

I thought it was fun.

In theory, you could make some really good sounding "technical" guitar work doing things this way. I don't think any other band in the world should try this, but I'd be interested to see what this group does in the future.

Those people suck. Their idea that the the normal conventions of rock music are limiting is true (although it doesn't stop people from doing all kinds of crazy shit with a convential rock setup). However, their solution seems to only be more limiting. Gone is improvision, and they just replicate all the same sounds but in a gimmicky way, not an innovative way. I suppose you could do something cool with 6 guitar players each playing one string. Still, I think you could do more with 6 guitar players playing regular guitars. Why make a retarded guitar to do this.
