I actually had somebody send me $50 by accident on paypal. He sent me an email about it and I was sure it was fraud. But then I logged into my pay pal account and there was the $50. Turns out the retard seller had the same email address as me except @hotmail.com instead of @yahoo.com but had put @yahoo.com on his eBay auction. I thought about keeping it (hey, I'm poor) but I felt bad for the buyer so I refunded his money.

Same thing happened with me a few times. Some guy had an email address that was two letters off from my own. D: No one even thanked me for sending the money back. Jerks.
For a while, i was getting some weird e-mails from a friend or boss or business partner of his too.

The buyer sent me a thank you note, which sort of surprised me. I still can't believe the seller didn't know which free email service he was using.

Hah, I've gotten one of those too! Even the URL was pretty tricky. Of course, pretty much anything you register for tells you that they will never ask for your password, so if you get an e-mail asking for your password you should know it's not right (that's about the only thing I could tell was false from my Paypal e-mail).

I never trust any email that says "Bank Account Issue", "Update your account information", etc. even if the From field does claim that it's from PayPal or other such sites. If something does come up, I'll go to the real site to check my account status. Never do I click email links.

One HTML-coded false PayPal email even had the gall to ask for my ATM PIN. Come on phishers, do you think I'm that fucking stupid?
