Thread: 31 Days of Oscar on TCM

  1. 31 Days of Oscar on TCM

Turner Classic Movies is playing only Oscar winning/nominated movies for the next 30 days. The African Queen and Casablanca were on last night, and they pretty much have awesome movies playing every night.

Another neat thing that they're doing is playing 360 Degrees of Oscar, where each movie they play is connected to the movie before it by at least one actor. Pretty cool for film nerds I say.

I'm gonna go watch Mutiny on the Bounty now...

  2. Looking at that didn't show me any Oscar films I want to see tonight, but it did show that they're showing Citizen Kane and The Third Man back-to-back. Way more important.
    Time for a change

  3. Both of those movies won Oscars, Kane for Original Screenplay and... The Third Man best cinematography. It's not just best picture winners they are playing (thankfully)

  4. Ah okay. I can't really tell what movies they're showing because the navigation on that site is shit.

Yeah, I just wanted a nice list of the 31 movies they were going to play but I can't. Fuck you TCM.

There's another one that tells what awards they one and what actors link them, but I can't find it because, as said before, crappy site.

Please watch Father Goose and Operation Petticoat. Two of the funniest movies ever, and starring The Man, Cary Grant. Love those movies.

I edited your post and stuck the thread. There's a lot of important stuff being played and I suggest everyone check some of it out.

Actually, I suggest everyone just watch TCM all the time. It's an awesome channel.

And don't miss The Bridge on the River Kwai if you've never seen it. One of my all time favorite movies, starring a youngish Sir Alec Guinness. Directed by David Lean (Dr. Zhivago/Lawrence of Arabia)

  10. Figures this happens just after we get rid of several cable channels, including TCM
