Sounds like buying a team to me.

Considering your best player only makes $300k that sure makes the Beltran contract look like shit.
    Who's your center fielder again?

  2. LOL. Don't forget winning moves like constantly trying to trade Manny (and failing), "upgrading" from Cabrera to Renteria, trading for A-Rod (saved by divine baseball intervention), and B-Y Kim.

The Sox won a title in spite of themselves.

The Red Sox 2006 pay roll is $120,099,824.

The Mets' 2006 pay roll is $101,084,963.

Care to venture who will have more wins/dollar, stormy?

Yeah. It's a fucking shame Franken Berry wasn't on the market last offseason.

  6. Stormy's chasing the title of "Honorary Yankee Fan" normally awarded only to the city of Philadelphia.

Speaking of Philly...The Phillies traded Thome to the ChiSox to give Ryan Howard a chance to play everyday and what happens?? Thome is murdering the ball again in the AL and Ryan Howard bats 6th and is doing nothing. Sixth! What is Manuel doing?

  8. I know what the payrolls are. I even stated i was being hypocritical. I don't care, I'm a Red Sox fan. Right now though the only bad contract on the team is Manny, and that was a Duquette move. Duquette was a shitty gm trying to run the Sox like the Yankees, just like Minaya is doing. Currently the Sox at least have a strategy to the way they sign players and the Mets don't. The Sox have also built thier farm system back from nothing to the point where they are about to see the influx of young talent. Papelbon is just the first.

Not every move works, and the sox were able to get out of the bad ones. Have fun with that beltran contract the next billion years though.

Coco crisp whom the Sox are going to pay $5 million a year to for the next 4 years. There's nothing wrong with buying a team if that's how you want to define it, there is something wrong with handing out stupid contracts and buying a mediocre team for a ton of money.

I don't know what this means

  9. I don't know why your center fielder is a breakfast cereal.

LOL at the Mets' mediocrity. I'm still pissed about that one loss, too.

The only bad contract on the Mets' payroll is Matsui.

Why, by arguing the Phillies were going to be a contender for a Post-Season spot? I'm not the one that overly exaggerated everything I said, that was you guys.

And I guarentee I'm right too, the Phillies will be a contender whether they make it or not, I know that doesn't mean much (especially if they don't get there) but they'll still be in the running.

Yeah, I think maybe Utley should be batting 6th with Howard batting 4th. Howard is posting an alright BA right now but a lot of the times he's coming up to bat in the same inning the order below him is. That's getting a lot of pitchers to pitch around him because it's worth it for a walk to face David Bell. Howard's biggest problem is his plate discipline, he strikes out a lot. Moving Utley to the 6th spot isn't going to be all that big of a solution though because it'll just result in pitchers going around him too. It's a long stretch but maybe Rowand should be batting 7th with David Bell batting 2nd.

Speaking of Thome, I knew he would have a good season but it's a lot easier on him since he doesn't have to play the field. What's not to say if he was on 1B everyday that he'd spend the rest of the season on the DL again? Bad move or good, Howard couldn't stay in AAA forever, I think it was at the point whether it was either him or Thome that'd be leaving the ball-club. I like Jim Thome though, he's a great ball-player.
