WOW. I keep complaining about how the Dodgers bullpen is weak, and it just got a whole lot weaker. Brazoban's season is over; Tommy John surgery:

I know I have been bitching about how much I think Yhency Brazoban sucks, because of how inconsistent he has been. However, this still weakens the bullpen, and this pretty much explains why he was doing so crappy his last couple appearances. At this point, the Dodgers need to call up either Aaron Sele, DJ Houlton, or Broxton to fill this gap in the bullpen. I would prefer if they called up Houlton anyways, because he proved that he was a more than solid STARTER last year.

Man, Phillies have been playing good ball the past 3 games. Chase Utley just hit a grand-slam, his fourth HR in two games (I bet he's helping you out this week Raystorm). Burrell hit a shot too. 4th inning and the score is 9-3 Phillies. I'm glad they're turning around before they got buried too deep. We'll see what happens next month when they play the Mets :P

Considering he's the best player in NY and better than anyone in Boston, that really doesn't matter.

He's not the best player in New York (Mariano Rivera is) and he's not better than Manny Ramirez or David Ortiz. To argue that he's even the best third baseman in New York is silly (Arod is annoying but you can't argue with his stats). He's a great player and I know it's been 23 years since the Mets developed a great player but calm down.

Baseball is a team sport and the Mets World Series drought directly correlates with their player development so yeah, it really does matter.

Lily's performance vs. Boston compared to the rest of the league is seriously one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen. In 2005, he was 3-0 with a 2.40 ERA against them last year and 7-11 with a 6.54 ERA versus everyone else... what the hell. He is not lucksacking his way to good stats against Boston either. He is getting ahead of every batter, aggressively attacking the stike zone. He spots his fastball very well, and he consistently throws his curve and changeup for strikes. If he could do that against any other team, he would be a damn good pitcher -- but normally he can not throw his curve and change cosistently to save his life, and his fastball catches too much of the plate too often and gets owned.

Yeah, when he came up with the Yankees he was the same way; very solid against Boston and usually left the ball over the middle of the plate against everyone else. I still wish we never traded him for Weaver (although I was for the trade at the time so I can't second guess it, who knew Weaver was a headcase).

You know, despite being a rookie, I think Downs is gonna do pretty well this year.

Good call, Downs gets chased in the third. Jays demolish the White Sox anyway - Greg Zaun wth 3 doubles, lol. Downs may still have a good season out of the bullpen, but if you're looking for a young pitcher to do well for them, I've got higher hopes for Dustin McGowan

Goddamn, Phillies bullpen almost blew it again. Last night Ryan Franklin gave up 3 in the 7th or 8th and Julio Santana gave up 3 in the 9th and Arthur Rhodes and Tom Gordon had to come in and be the heroes again.

10-8 final score. Shane Victorino has been struggling a bit at the plate but he's been great on defense. Won the game by nailing a running going for third.

And a final note, Burgundy had to fuck it up and J-Roll went 0-6 tonight. No biggie, I'm not worried about him breaking any records just as long as he keeps playing well.

Looks like David Wright is on the 2-day DL with puncture wounds to the hands as well as exposure.

It sucked sitting in the rain for 2 hours, but the last 4 innings of the Mets game today totally made it worth it. Tom Glavine pitched like a fucking monster; 6 innings, 0 ERs, 11 Ks.
