  1. I want Delgado back It was like, "he's taking up too much of our payroll, can't afford him anymore." Then the very next year they come out and they're all like "yeah, we're adding 50 million in payroll. It's Molina time!"

  2. Kaz is a great player in his first at bat of a season, no question. It's every other at-bat that makes him suck.

The Young call was obviously a bad call but it doesn't really matter anyway, the Mets piled on. It's really exciting when the Yankees and Mets have good teams at the same time, it's unexplainable because it's a rivalry but there's a sort of kinship with it too. Maybe because the Mets killed the Red Sox in 86 and the Yankees killed the Braves in 96 and 99?

I hate the Mets-Yankees rivarly. I feel like it's expanded upon by Mets fans and reciprocated by Yankees fans, and regardless, I love the Yankees and really do like the Mets. I hate non-league rivalries.

eh...its both fans and of course the media that really goes nuts with the back page crap for both teams. Of course as a Mets fan born and raised in the Bronx I got into many arguments with Yankees fans but it was always good natured ribbing really. The Yanks winning doesn't do anything for me though I'm always happy when my hometown is the center of excitement so thats a good thing. I don't like the Yanks but I do hate Yankee fans especially the ones that joined the bandwagon in 1996. Those guys are just full of shit.

Hopefully Queens will be the center of excitement this fall and it'll be so powerful that I can feel it in the Bronx.

Kinship my ass. I hate the Yankees. I do agree that it's odd for an interleague rivalry to exist though. I can't really think of a Western Conference NHL team or an AFC NFL team that I dislike even 10% as much as the Yankees. The closest would be the Steelers. Where reason does come in to play is that I do hate the Rangers, Flyers, Braves, Phillies, Redskins, and Eagles far more than the Yankees.

  7. The Mets-Yankee rivalry probably dates back to the days when the Yanks were playing (and usually beating) the Dodgers and Giants every October. NY NL fans naturally gravitated to the Mets after the '57 exodus.

Then throw in that the Yankees are the most hated sports franchise in the world (for good reasons and bad) and it's pretty easy to see why us Mets fans get all pissed about having to share the city with the them.

  8. P.S. Yanks made a really good move signing Carlos Pena, IMO. I could see him being one of those mystery Yankees that come through big late in the year.

  10. If Torre is smart and doesn't have his hands tied, Pena will start at 1st and Giambi will DH.
