Yes. Did it hit VC yet?

It has not hit VC yet.

It should, so people can start liking it better than G&G again.

  4. I <3 this thread.

As much as I love the original games, I think Maximo is probably my favorite out of the family of games.

    So good, and really underrated.

I've played a lot of Maximo.

    I... don't get it.

  6. The first one kind of sucks imo, the second one was a huge improvement.

Yes, so very true in this case. Ghosts 'N Goblins came out in 1985 on 8-bit arcade hardware (stronger than NES or SMS) but by the late 80s it looked old & played primitively compared to the 16-bit CPS arcade sequel released in 1988.

I had not even heard of these games until August 1989 when I got EGM issue #3, where they showed the Genesis Ghouls 'N Ghosts. I got to play it the next April when I got a Genesis.

During summer 1990, I saw pics of the SuperGrafx rendition, which I could only drool over, and played an arcade unit at Six Flags. I was stunned that the arcade game looked SO much better than Genesis.

I wasn't expecting that, although I should've known given that I already had known since 1989 that Altered Beast was downgraded alot from the arcade game.

It's not like today, or even 8-9 years ago when consoles were on par with arcade.

  9. Oh, I didn't realize that, lol. I've actually never played Maximo, but when I do, I'll get both games and play until I've conquered them.

I'd also like to find a ROM of the early prototype/alpha of Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts,
when it was known as Ghouls And Ghosts 3 for Super Famicom.

    late 1990 previews:

As you can see, the enemies and background graphics were changed by 1991 when it became SGnG.

    mid 1991 preview:

    That is crazy talk IMO.

First game was more of a traditional 3D platformer set in the ghosts n' goblins universe.

Tons of spooky settings and great music in the same vein as the original games.

The sequels heavy reliance on fighting and the move away from platforming, not to mention the waaaay easier difficulty level really was a step backward.
