Xband allowed you to send a short email message to other Xband users. It was a pain to type a message with a controller, unless you were hardcore enough to get the Xband keyboard.

There are also plenty of people who like KI, though. In one game community I used to hang out in before GG!, there was a guy who was an absolute high-level SF player but he also loved KI. I couldnt reconcile it but more than just scrubs enjoy it.
