  2. I schedule my gaming time every week, which makes this "hobby" a lot more fun without the guilt of wasted time. I play for 3 hours every Saturday- my family, girlfriend, boss, etc know not to bother me on Saturdays between 9AM-12PM.

Thats a good point but there are still plenty of games for working schmoes with relationships and kids and whatever, I just beat God of War in 10 hours and the length was perfectly fine for me. FEAR and Call of Duty 2 were of similar length. Im glad developers arent scared of making shorter games, they can trim them to perfection.

  4. That's the thing. For me now it's work 8-4, get home around 5. Hang out with Steph(or some of the guys, but usually Steph) til like 11 (Then I SHOULD go to bed) but end up staying til 1 playing WoW or some other game(Meaning I clock 6 hours of sleep which needs to stop), then start the process over again.

Of course days off, and weekends are different, but still it's a far cry from my High School days.

  5. I usually point to Zone of the Enders 2 when discussing ideal game design/pacing. I cleared it in 6 hours, but was solidly entertained the entire way through.

I'd better up the witty remarks and sarcasm then.

  7. With maybe 2 exceptions (Lunar 1, Thousand Arms) I was never big into RPGs to begin with. Strategy RPGs are better as long as they don't take 50+ hours to beat.

Modern RPGs are stagnant, repetitive, and boring. They pad out their playtime with hours and hours of bullshit and countless random battles to try and disguise the fact that there's maybe 5-10 hours of real gameplay in a game that takes 80 hours to beat. It's a compete waste of time.

This is so very true. I'll only play the shorter or more quirky ones now.
    Agreed with both statements.

  8. I don't play games nearly as much as I have in the past, mainly because of work. The only time I play now are the weekends and if I have a day off during the week. I can't sit and play for a few minutes and then have to leave.

I'm glad there are some people out there that understand the fact that not every game is meant to be a 50+ hour fetch-quest, and that people DO have lives outside of gaming.
