  1. 2006- more bad news for the industry?

I think another big "growing pain" for the industry is at hand.
    Discuss.

95% of the economic "news" that you see printed is bullshit for one very simple reason. These media outlets want to draw comparisons between two data points and claim that the outcome is important. Guess what... when you compare two data points, the second one will be higher about half the time and lower about half the time. More context is needed to draw comparisons. It applies to unemployment rates and video game revenue. Unfortunately, the average American is too stupid to understand the concept and, thus, eats up whatever worthless "analysis" accompanies the misuse of data.

  3. This happens every cycle. It's generally a great time to pick up stock in the game publishers. They make huge revenue and earning strides in the first couple years of the cycle.
    No gnus is good gnus.

RoleTroll is dead on. You can profit from the fact that your neighbors are dumbasses by buying stocks that they are selling off during predictable cycles.

  5. It is current-generation sales that are down. Is this surprising to anyone? 99% of good current-gen games are already out and developers are working on titles for 360 and PS3, a system that isn't out.

In 3 years videogame sales will be bigger than ever and everyone will forget this ever happened.

  6. And a new crash will never happen.

This forum needs more Tricia Helfer.

  8. The real bad news is all the shitty games out there, but we already know that.

  9. There may not be a crash, but the $60 pricing won't do the industry any favors if they try to make it stick for the too long into the gen. The market will support it during launch, but outside of that window it'll probably do more harm than good.
