Man, GAF is just getting hammered.
Well, the shit's going down in Tokyo right now.

Our boy Kenny Kutaragi just took stage, and said the focus of the show will be PSP and PS3, and the PS3 release schedule will be explained.

From Beyond3d (not confirmed):He's expected to announce the release dates for the PS3 in all three major territories (our sources indicate October in Japan and November in the U.S.), reveal a bunch of new PS3 titles, and discuss a major new firmware upgrade for the PSP.
.."PSP will get a videophone in Fall and PSP EyeToy will be released.
Hot Shot Golf GPS is also scheduled. Macromedia Flash will be supported in PSP by the next firmware update."
Apparently, they've announced a PS1 emulator for PSP, and downloadable game capability.
WTF. Holy shit, if that's what they meant by "downloadable games" when they announced the relaunch of Connect for PSP, that is going to be fucking awesome. Now it's all going to depend on price, and how these downloads will be treated (if they're ala XBL; awesome. If they're ala iTunes, where they're gone forever if you accidentilly delete your content; fuck that.).
Man, GAF is just getting hammered.

PS1 games being downloadable on the PSP is a rather surprising thing, but would be a great way to experience classic games. I'm hoping the Jumping Flash games are supported with it at some point.

Memory Stick boot support? Just saw this mentioned as something possibly mentioned - what could this be for?

Worldwide November launch? Well, I wish them luck with that.

Global launch in November??
-- The PSP userbase is 96% male and Sony views this as a problem. Ideally, the company would like more women to play PSP and Sony looks to widen the system's appeal to various demographics.
-- Starting this fall, the PSP will use RSS channel features. Video and voice-over-IP will release in October in "motion jpg" format. The PSP's own version of the EyeToy will launch a month earlier in September and the peripheral will feature EyeToy Play and video chat. The camera is sliver and it attaches to the USB port.
-- The PSP will also include a GPS receiver with an update rate of once every second with a 40-second fix time from a cold start. Minna no Golf (Hot Shots Golf) will be a GPS launch title.
-- Macromedia Flash will be included with a spring Network update.
They manufacture 1 million PS3 per month till the launch, the pace exceeds PS2.

All games will be released on BD, in part to help combat piracy.
Oh, and global PS3 launch day = armageddon. They better have armed guards at each and every store selling these things.
Developers encouraged to develop with the hard drive in mind, so that it is successful. However, if the drive actually comes with the PS3 or not is not yet clear.
Totally unconfirmed rumor of the price being $349, and a drop of the PSP in the US to $200 (in Fall?).
Supposedly from IGN
Sony today announced that not only is the PlayStation 3 to be 100% backwards compatible, but all legacy titles played on the system will be displayed at high-definition resolutions. The Xbox 360 currently does the same thing and the result on that end is much sharper image quality for older games.
Other key features of the system that the electronics giant has pointed out so far are full Blu-ray support, the latest HDMI connection, broadband and wireless connectivity and HDD support. This is all old new, but we're just posting it as it comes in. Stay tuned...
