Thread: Ghouls 'N Ghosts (Daimakaimura only) comparison videos

  1. Ghouls 'N Ghosts (Daimakaimura only) comparison videos

For those of you who love Daimakaimura ~ Ghouls 'N Ghosts, and for those that like to compare home versions of arcade games to the original, this is for you.

    (i made them, yea that's me )

I will try to get more videos of the Saturn Capcom Generation Vol 2 version up, as well as the Playstation version which was directly lifted for the PS2 and Xbox versions of Capcom Classics Collection (PS1-Xbox-PS2 all have the dim, difficult to see distant parallax scrolling backgrounds).

these videos are mainly to highlight the differences between the original 16-Bit CP-System (CPS) Arcade version and NEC's translation for the 8-bit SuperGrafx.

    Arcade
video of stage 2-2 from Arcade

    Megadrive-Genesis
video of stage 2-2 from Genesis

    SuperGrafx
video of stage 2-2 on SuperGrafx

    .

    Arcade (video)

    MegaDrive/Genesis (video)

    SuperGrafx (video)

    X68000

you can see a very significant lack of detail in the SuperGrafx conversion compared to the arcade, the severe lack of detail in the MegaDrive/Genesis rendition, and basicly, seemingly exact arcade-detail in the X68000 port.

    .

if you prefer direct captures over digital camera videos, I've got some of those too--look for them.

  2. RE: the arcade video. Arthur goes through all the effort to avoid the fiery windmill and then he just runs smack dab into the armored red devil. Dumbass!

  3. yes. in all three of those videos. just to show the detail. or lack of it in the case of Genesis and SuperGrafx.

but in teh first 3 videos, Arthur clears the stage, defeating the flaming hellhound, Cerberus

It WAS....in certain places. it's prettier than the SuperGrafx version at times.
even though the SuperGrafx beats it in many areas.

the music on the Genesis version was extremely beautiful, far better than the awful TurboGrafx-quality music that the SuperGrafx had.

Yeah, the bouncing turtle stage has amazing music on Genesis. Better than the arcade IMO.

  9. You have any videos of the X68000 version of Daimakaimura, supergrafxengine?

  10. wow, the genesis version looks much worse than I remember. I rembembered it beign vaguely close to the arcade, but it doesn't even look like the same game.
