i have this, but have yet to watch it.
Only because Revoltor asked so nicely.
This week I choose Metropolis by Osamu Tezuka.

Japanime it may be, but this movie has such raw power and emotion, that you can't bring yourself to hate it. So much of this movie is excellent.
The art is beautiful and expansive.
The musical score is fitting and most of the songs are awesome in their own right.
The characters are nicely done and beautifully acted.
The story is nice and easy to follow.
And, if there is any movie this side of Star Trek II that will make a grown man get close to crying at the end, it's this movie.
I highly reccomend you watch it, even if you don't like anime.
You'll come away a better person.

Damn, I was hoping this would be about the original.
Damn it, another one I've seen.
A lot of people seem to love this movie (and the original) but I never really saw all of the hype in it. It's very good mind you, but not on the level I've heard people praise it.
"All creatures will DIE, and all things will be BROKEN: That is the law of the SAMURAI."
Yeah, but come on, who hasn't seen that one?Originally Posted by sethsez

Maybe we could make a dual entry for both the anime and the original? It's not like half of you are going to watch either.Originally Posted by sethsez

I wouldn't be opposed to it....and aren't they connected in some way anyhow?
"Chuy, you're going to have a magical life. Because no matter where you go, it's always going to be better than Tucson."
I enjoyed Metropolis a lot. I saw it in theaters and bought it on DVD as soon as it was available.
Anyway, watch it in Japanese, people. We all know this.
Rock was a cool character, but he could have been used to much greater effect. He was far more interesting than the protagonist, anyway. Tima herself is charming enough, but there's just not enough, emotionally, at the end regarding her.
The "I can't stop loving you" sequence is amazing and will always be
