Thread: DVD backup stuff for the mac.

DVD backup stuff for the mac.

So I use dvd shrink on the PC to backup my DVDs and whatnot. Whats a program for the mac I could use to do the same thing. It takes lol so long on my weak ass PC.

I am aware of the website "google" and how to use it. I'd like some help from some of our resident mac elitists.

  2. My job has had me working on a Mac the last month or so, one of my coworkers recommended "Mac the Ripper." Worked perfectly. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22715

You'll also be needing a program to re-compress the files before you can burn a backup DVD; I forget what the one I used was called, but I'll give a heads up Tuesday if nobody recommends anything.

    This may also help:

  3. I use Toast for just about everything.
You can burn DVDs from video_ts folders easily enough with it.
I imagine the program YellerDog recommended will be needed to actually rip the folder to begin with.

  4. That is correct.

  5. Yeah, I use MacTheRipper to, well, rip. After that if it needs compressing DVD2oneX has done a fine job. Burn the TS folders with Toast set to UDF and that's really all there is to it.

  6. That's the program, DVD2oneX.

I wish DVDshrink was on the mac.

  8. Mac the ripper to rip to HD, then use Toast 7 to burn it to a DVD, takes care of the compression for you

I think I'll just continue doing my DVD stuff on my PC.

    Thanks for the help.

  10. Try Handbrake. It is a good and free mac dvd ripper.
