Thread: Turbo Duo info questions.

  1. Turbo Duo info questions.

    Ok is/are there any sites out there that are good go tos for TD info?

    IIRC the TG-16 and TGCD systems got pretty complicated and I remember a lot of "haze" concerning upgrade hucards and other stuff that may or may not have been required to play certain games,

    Other Q's I'm wondering about is what it takes to play Japanese games like Dracula X and such? Is there anything that a TG-16 TGCD system can or cannot do that a Duo can?

    CD games are region free, as long as you have the corresponding system card. Hucards are not region free, however, and converters are expensive. It was cheaper for me to buy a PCE and a TG16.

    A good site to look at for info: http://www.pcenginefx.com/main/

    Thanx for the site, it seems to be able to answer all my Q's, this thread can be closed now if the mods would like.

  4. so PC Engine is the japanese TG16? and Turbo Duo is basically a TG16 and CD?

    i dont really know much about NECs game consoles since i was a SNES/Genny guy back in the days. The only NEC system i had was the Turbo Express.

    That's why Grave posted the link. Go fucking read it.

    PCE = TG16 in Japan
    TD = TG16 + TCD + Super System card

  6. Plus the duo had a built in "turbobooster".

    And I don't think you could play arcade system games on a regular TG16+CD. Of course, almost every arcade system game sucked, so who cares.

    True... which is basically just the ability to use composite cables instead of RF.

    There was no American Arcade Card, so to play those games on a US Duo, you'd need a HuCard converter and the Arcade Card. The CD support goes like this:

    TGCD/System 2.X -> Duo/System 3.X/Super System -> Arcade Card

    The vast majority of good CD games fall in the middle group.

    Really? I had two of them, sold one when I sold off all of my Turbo stuff, but I think I still have the other one. Hmm... maybe I should try to sell it.
