I mean no offense to anyone. Just thought I'd throw that out there. I mean my roommate's black and we get along perfectly. It's not a matter of putting the spotlight on anyone, its just observations

I didn't say it to offend. If you'll notice I made fun of the rednecks in their mud trucks too. It was said as an observation of that group/trend, not to imply anything about the over all culture or "race" that they were birthed from.Originally Posted by Brisco Bold
"hippityhoppity" may be a tad offensive, but I don't really know of another word for the pop culture and fashion that those particular kids adhere too. I don't use the word to say anything about race (hell some of these kids are white/mexican/cubian.) I mean it in much the same way that if you called a kid a "metal head" you'd be talking about a kid with long hair that listens to heavy metal and does all sorts of other things associated with that group.
But like mars said, we are talking about observations. I'm all for talking about the cheerleaders, jocks, rednecks, scensters/emos, gamers/anime dorks, potheads/stoners, etc. That one particular group was brought up because of all of those groups, it is the only one that makes a big scene daily at my school. If it was rednecks making doughnuts in the grass during lunch, I'd brought them up.
You're a cool guy and I'm sorry if my phrasing or word choices have insulted you or bothered you.
I wouldn't think too much about it because I know what they are talking about and it is difficult to put it in a way that doesn't make you sound like a Nigger Lynchin Good Ol' Boy. But it happened in my high school where a lot of the black kids (of course, not all, but a seeming majority) were really loud and did nothing to break negative stereotype.
Dealing with people who exemplify the negative racial stereotypes people hold is hard, especially when you have been branded with a "Oh well, he's from the South, isn't he cute in his semi-racist ways."
So... basically, I forgot where I was going with this.
Indeed. I get you guys.
I wanted to handle it without it becoming another "no you STFU" thread.
Just ease up on the "monkey" talk. NEVER EVER, and I mean NEVER (even if you mean no harm) use "monkey" to describe the behavioral patterns of african-americans. People have gotten waaaay to comfortable with that shit nowadays.
Anyhow...back to the topic of this new crazy Gawd-warrior lady.
I get slack? and because I'm from the south?Originally Posted by Brisco Bold

Oh, the monkey thing. Yeah, that was a poor choice to use. I can see where that would be taken the wrong way considering how racist use that word when talking about nonwhites.Originally Posted by Fighter-X
I in know way was trying to imply that black people are naturally like monkeys.
I don't know about where you are from, but giving slack means you forgive easily in the south.Originally Posted by Fighter-X
